MOULTRIE — Three people were injured in Moultrie Monday when three large trucks came collided at a major intersection.
Lt. Justin Cox with the Moultrie Fire Department said the accident, which involved a Mayfield milk truck, a fertilizer truck and a Swift tractor-trailer, occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 319 and Georgia Highway 133 north.
According to Cox, three units of the Fire Department responded to scene, including a hazardous materials team to contain the spill of about 500 gallons of diesel fuel. Also of concern was the possible contents of the fertilizer truck, Cox said, but the truck was later determined to have been empty.
Cox also said that two injured persons were transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, one of them by air. The third victim, who Cox said might be just “banged up” a little, was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.
