ALBANY — A 41-year-old Albany man was stabbed by his girlfriend Wednesday, police officials say.

According to police reports, officers of the Albany Police Department responded to an apartment at 1725 W. Oakridge Drive around 1:30 a.m., where the victim told police he'd been stabbed in the chest by his 39-year-old girlfriend.

Both the victim and suspect, who was observed to have severe cuts on her left arm, were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for surgery, police officials said.

According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, the suspect told police she had cut her arm by punching a window at her apartment. Banks said that because of the emergency treatment required, no charges had been filed at the time of her report.
