Woman injured by shooter

ALBANY — Albany Police are questioning claims from an Albany woman, who reported that she was shot by an “unknown type firearm” Thursday evening while walking in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Avenue.

Instead, police are describing the injury as a “small round-shaped bruise.”

According to the report, Janice Brown, 59, says she was walking around 8 p.m. when she contends she was struck in the back by the unknown weapon.

According to Brown, she was shot by a tall dark-skinned male of average build wearing a blue shirt and white shorts. She told police she doesn’t know why the suspect shot her.

Brown reported that after she’d been injured, she continued walking to her sister’s house at 1308 W. Waddell Ave., where police were summoned.

In his narrative report, a responding officer described Brown’s injury as a “small, round-shaped bruise” on her back. Brown was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment and observation.
