MCLB-ALBANY — Officials say that arrangements are being made for the Albany Veterans Affairs Clinic on West Broad Avenue to soon move to Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany.
Capt. Justin Jacobs, public affairs officer for the base, confirmed to The Albany Herald on Thursday that such an arrangement is in the works. Marine officials with the installation have signed on to it, but officials from the U.S. Navy side had not as of midday Thursday, he said.
Jacobs also said it was not immediately clear when the agreement might be sign, as the process is still in motion. A teleconference is expected to take place either today or early next week to discuss the issue further, he said.
The Herald called the Albany VA Clinic, and a reporter was directed to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. The official authorized to speak further on the situation was not in the office Thursday, but a representative from the clinic said that much of the information regarding the move was currently being withheld because the final arrangements were still in progress.
More information is expected to be released on the move as the situation progresses, Jacobs said.
