Lee Sheriff's Office holds blood drive

LEESBURG — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a blood drive from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the the Voting Precinct/SRT Building, 119 Pinewood Road.

Jerry Tillery, CEO of the Southern Blood Services Region, said that during the summer months hospital patients are counting on eligible donors to take the time to give blood or platelets.

Tillery said the Red Cross Summer of Stories campaign runs through Sept. 9. The organizations hopes to encourage at least two more donors to give blood at every Red Cross Blood drive this summer.

“Stories are the glue that bind many of us together,” Tillery said. “Whether you’ve needed blood, have give blood or simply want to share a fun summer memory, we want to hear from you.”
