ALBANY - Darton State College Foundation and Claire Fox Hillard, director of performing arts, have announced an All-Steinway Piano Initiative, a $1 million fund-raising program that aims to provide the music department with 21 Steinway pianos for practice and performance.

The initiative will give students and faculty the best equipment possible and demonstrates the college’s continued commitment to excellence. In order to be classified as an All-Steinway School, 95 percent of the college’s piano inventory must be Steinway & Sons.

“This goal will greatly enhance the educational experience that Darton State College offers our students, creates significant opportunities to further engage the community, generates increased interest and support for our music programs, and provides a powerful recruiting tool for attracting and retaining outstanding students and faculty,” said Dr. Paul Jones, interim president for Darton State College.

“It is essential that we provide the finest tools for quality teaching and performing,” Dr. Zheng Jennifer Huang, newly appointed assistant professor of piano said. “As a benefactor, your generosity will continue to provide the department with inspiration and resources to further the pursuit of excellence in music.”

Tax-deductible donations for the Darton State College All-Steinway School Campaign may be made out to Darton State College Foundation, earmarked “Steinway School” and sent to Office of Institutional Advancement, 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707.
