Blakely presenting holiday festival

BLAKELY — The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “Holidays on the Square” Festival Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The first annual Christmas Tree Trot 5K and Reindeer Fun Run will kick off the festival at 9 a.m. The runs are sponsored by the Early County Elementary School and all proceeds will go towards the school’s Relay for Life campaign.

Arts and crafts vendors will be selling items such as soaps, handbags, candles, jewelry, clothing and toys. Food vendors will sell a variety of foods, including barbecue, hamburgers, funnel cakes and alligator on a stick. Local nonprofits will also sell raffle tickets for prizes ranging from a chest freezer filled with meat to a golf cart. The festival will also feature events for children, including pony rides, a bounce house, and a lawnmower train.

Throughout the festival, there will be live entertainment from local singers and dance groups. Arlington native and RCA Nashville recording artist Joanna Smith will take the stage at 1 p.m. Smith recently played at the Grand Ole Opry and performed as the opening act for Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley on their “Locked and Reloaded Tour.”

The parade will kick off at 2 p.m., and an antique car show will take place throughout the festival.
