Gerald Long of Decatur County has been re-elected to his third, three-year term as South Georgia vice president of Georgia Farm Bureau.
GFB voting delegates also re-designated Long as the organization’s first vice president, a position he has held since 2008. Long represents 53 counties in South Georgia as GFB South Georgia vice president.
He currently serves on the Decatur County Farm Bureau Board of Directors as secretary/treasurer. He is a past president and vice president of the Decatur County Farm Bureau. He represents Georgia Farm Bureau on the Georgia Beef Board and serves as treasurer of the board.
Long and his wife, Janice, have three adult children: Justin, Jared and Jeanie and one grandchild. The family raises cattle and grows peanuts, vegetables, corn, cotton, hay, small grains and timber on their farm near Bainbridge.
Tahl Barrett, chief financial officer of Short & Paulk Supply Co., based in Tifton, has been named to the 2014 board of directors of Construction Suppliers Association, a regional building material trade association with member companies in Georgia and Alabama.
Employed by Short & Paulk since 2000, Barrett has held a position on CSA’s Self Insured Fund board of trustees since 2006 and participates in several peer-to-peer roundtables.
