Alzheimer’s Day advocacy training set

TIFTON, Ga. — The Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter, South Georgia Region, is holding advocacy training sessions Thursday and Feb. 12 at the Leroy Rogers Community Center, 315 W. Second St. in Tifton.

The training prepares those interested in being advocates at Alzheimer’s Awareness Day at the State Capitol on Feb. 27.

Training will include a review the schedule for the day and the advocacy issues that participants will be discussing with legislators. Last year, 24 volunteer advocates from Adel, Albany, Americus, Fitzgerald, Leesburg, Moultrie, Thomasville, Tifton and Valdosta joined hundreds from across Georgia to share their concerns with state legislators.

Awareness Day participants will receive a VOICE T-shirt to wear to show solidarity in giving a voice for those who can no longer ask for help. If enough people sign up, the Alzheimer
