ALBANY — Darton sophomore Nate Ferrell started Sunday’s game against Southern Union State with an RBI single in the first inning and then knocked in another run in the bottom of the third to lead the Cavs to a 4-3 win.
Darton (4-2) scored the winning run in the seventh inning when Southern Union balked in Cavs sophomore Kody Adams to give Darton a 4-3 lead.
Andrew Crumbley pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and flame-thrower Ryan Good picked up his second save of the season with a clean ninth inning.
Ferrell, a Griffin native, led the Cavs at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
Adams finished 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Davis Knapp was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI and Cody Wofford was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Freshman Casey Moody gave up the lead in the seventh but got the win after Darton came back in the bottom of the inning, while starter John Harman picked up a no decision after throwing five innings and allowing two runs and six hits.
