SYLVESTER -- Mr. Charles O. Brown, 98, of Sylvester died Saturday February 2, 2013 at his residence.
The funeral services was held at 2:00 PM on Monday February 4, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Barker, Rev. Mike DeLoach and Mr. John Evans will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born on September 28, 1914 to the late Frederick Milford and Emma Trammell Brown in Stewart County and has lived in Worth County since 1923. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in agriculture in 1939. Mr. Brown was a retired farmer having served on the Soil and Water Conservation Board of Middle & South Georgia for 34 years and served on the Farmers Home Administration Board. He served on the Worth County Board of Education for 20 years and had taught vocational agriculture for 7 years in Crisp, Early, Turner and Worth Counties. Mr. Brown was a member and deacon of Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church and the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. He was an avid fox hunter.
Survivors include his daughters Evelyn B. Davis of Albany, Ann B. English and Paul of Cochran, Sue B. Larsen and Harry of DeSoto; son, Charles M. "Sonny" Brown of Sylvester; sister, Frances B. Jordon; 10 grandchildren, Mack Brown and Marnie, Georgia Owens and Mike, Jeff Brown and Shalara, Johnny Davis and Greg, Rob Davis and Beth, Paul English, Jr. and Galai, Carol Woodbery and Matt, Charlie English, Ike English and Laura, George Larsen and Lynn and 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Loy Audrey White Brown on July 23, 2003, siblings, Fred Brown, Hewlett Pope, Helen Sasser, Sara Tate and a son in law, Bobby Davis.
Serving as pallbearers were Mack Brown, Johnny Davis, Paul English, Jr., Jeff Brown, Rob Davis, Charlie English, George Larsen, Ike English, Georgia Owens and Carol Woodbery.
