PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLA. -- Five Albany women face grand theft charges in Panama City Beach for stealing about $ 7,000 in merchandise from merchants at malls, The News Herald here reported.
According to the beach area paper, one of the women allegedly hit an employee who confronted them Tuesday
Eurica Green, 30, Ashley Anderson, 25, Jamie Anderson, 24, Tchequerea Brown, 24, and Shocka Bishop, 37, conspired together to steal from upscale stores such as Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works during the past year. Bishop is suspected by police of assaulting the employee.
An officer spotted the women leaving Pier Park, a 900,000-square-foot shopping and entertainment center in Panama City Beach on Tuesday. The officer stopped the women in their vehicle and recovered about $3,000 in merchandise stolen from Pier Park and $4,000 worth stolen from the Panama City Mall earlier the same day.
Police have said that the women planned to return to Albany to sell the clothing and household goods. Other thefts at the mall last year could be tied to the women, and other Panhandle law enforcement agencies have reported similar thefts.
Panama City Police are also investigating, and more charges could be filed as the women were booked in Bay County Jail.
