ALBANY, Ga. — Free tax counseling and preparation with e-filing is available for moderate- and low-income taxpayers through the SOWEGA Council on Aging.
The service is available on Mondays and Tuesdays at 309 Pine Ave. through April 15. Izzie Sadler of the Council on Aging said those interested should call (229) 432-1131 for an appointment.
Taxpayers age 60 and older will be given priority, but the service is available for all ages. Individuals do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use the service.
Items to bring include a photo ID, Social Security card for each person on the return, a copy of last year's income tax return and all documents relating to income and claimed deductions, if itemizing.
