WILMINGTON, Del. — A gunman shot and killed two women at a courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday before he was killed by gunfire, according to local media reports.

Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams told the News Journal newspaper that one of those gunned down was the shooter's wife. Three others also were wounded, including two law enforcement officers, the paper reported.

It was unclear whether the assailant took his own life or was shot by police.

The man, between 20 and 30 years old, fired shots after entering the New Castle County Courthouse and trying to breach the security line, Delaware State Police said in an interview with local media.

Law enforcement responsible for the courthouse would not immediately comment.
