ALBANY, Ga. — A Georgia State Trooper was injured and taken to an area hospital after fighting with a suspect during a traffic stop Sunday.
Sgt. Barbara Brewton, the trooper's supervisor, says that the trooper's injuries were not life threatening and they should be able to return to work soon.
According to Brewton, the trooper, who wasn't named, made the stop Sunday on the Liberty Expressway, when a fight broke out between the trooper and 19-year-old Chaz Micheal Miller.
Within minutes, the fight was over and the trooper, along with backup units, had Miller in custody, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, aggravated assault on a duty officer and possession of drug-related products.

The legal system needs to start holding these perps responsible and giving harsh sentences for the crimes they commit.

Officers also need to be physically able to perform their jobs. I hope the officer makes a quick recovery.
