Quote of the Week
“It was payback time in this game. After that last game we said it would be payback time when we played them again. We did what we said we would do.’’
Whenekia Washington
Randolph-Clay guard who hit 5-of-9 treys to help R-C beat rival Calhoun County, 70-54, on Saturday. The Lady Red Devils needed a basket with 8.3 seconds left to beat Calhoun, 53-51, earlier in the season.
By the Numbers
5
Number of Region 1-AAAAA victories by Lee County’s Trojans, who turned the program around this season. Lee hadn’t won a region game in more than five years before Kirven Davis took over the program this year.
16
That’s where the Terrell County boys are ranked in the Class A state power rankings, which will determine who gets to advance to the playoffs. Under the new format, region champs advance to the 16-team field, and the rest of the field comes from state rankings. The Greenwave are right on the edge. They moved up from No. 20 to No. 16 in the latest rankings after knocking off Monroe.
