ALBANY, Ga. — Dr. David Mosely, interim superintendent of the Dougherty County School System, on Tuesday directed principals to increase the frequency of metal detecting wand use in the systems’ 26 elementary schools.

Middle and high schools use metal detection daily, and stepping up elementary school use of metal detection will add another level of security confidence.

“No community thinks a tragic act will happen to them, but it can happen anywhere,” Mosely said. “We want to know we’ve done all we can do to protect our students and staff.”
