What was it today, did I see 3.63? Tuesday it was 3.44? This is a product of the Bush administration, or least the media and democrats would lead you to believe. Darn that Bush, I wish Bush would leave those gas prices alone...wait....

If you start out with the premise that everything an environmentalist says is a lie or gross exaggeration you will be better off. Denying oil drilling and the pipeline results in huge sums of money for a few people, Warren Buffet for one. Who by the way was not one of Bush's oil buddies. Fracking does not poison the water supply. CFCs do not destroy ozone. Most of CO2 increase is from deep ocean release due to warming from last ice age. PCBs cause acne in some people, that's it. Environmental "crisis" over the past three decades have greatly increased costs of living with no measurable benefit. Drill baby drill.

Now what chance does anyone think we have of the Government passing regulations limiting gas pricing like we do what Power Companies can charge? You believe all those foreign sellers will flock to comply? Or would they just cut back and spread the oil over a longer time frame with increased production? As was said in Letters to the Editor several years ago by Ken Price. The US needs to adjust the price of Agricultural Exports to meet the adjustments made by the Oil Suppilers all these years. Hang the Traders out to dry.

Inflation. It has started. When the Federal Reserve prints $3 billion new dollars per day and uses it to run the stock market up, hence inflation. Other items will follow and we will never see cheap gas again. This is what you wanted when you voted for Obama. Folks tried to warn you, but when you vote for someone just for their race, then is what you get. The price will also remain high because it has also weakened the dollar compared to Euro which we purchase this oil. The money exchange drives up the price even more. Be careful what you wish for.

I don't know that the media has a bone to pick with petroleum companies. The issue really is that neither party has the courage to propose and defend a rational comprehensive energy policy for this country because it would offend so many of the sources of money which "fuels" political campaigns. Energy is really our strong and long suit but it works to the benefit of both political parties to keep us short changed. It is one of the biggest scams pulled on the American people since Woodrow Wilson took us into WWI as a war to end all wars.

Gas prices is one of those things which affects everyone. When gas prices go up people have less to spend and they complain. The complaining only serves as a way for them vent their frustrations. The truly sad thing is the fact that we have no control over it unless we all acted as one...

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 2 months ago

The President does not work for Exxon, Shell, BP, or any oil company...nor does he have any control over them......So how in the hell is he responsible for gas prices ?

1

Bulldawg 1 year, 2 months ago

Bubba, the only gas you know about is your own gas that you crop dust people with everyday. The President is responsible for gas prices. He can introduce legeslation to control price gouging at the pump, but he refuses to do so. The "lawmakers" in Washington get way to many kickbacks form the oil companies as it is.

1

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 2 months ago

His Emminence told people 6 years ago that He intended to blow up prices for fossil fuels. He's got absolutely NO interest in reducing prices for fossil fuels. They higher they go, the more He can justify funnelling Billions to His buddies/contributors for so-called "green" energy jobs. Solyndra.....??

1

VSU 1 year, 2 months ago

Obuma stopped the pipeline going from Canada, that would have helped out a little.

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 2 months ago

First of all Obama is beholden to large oil companies for the contributions to his campaign and to the campaigns of other democrats (so is the GOP). But we're talking about the POTUS now. You ask "So how in the hell is he responsible for gas prices?" because he has been in office for 5 years and has not developed a rational energy policy for the United States of America. He gives hypocritical lip service to clean air, global warming and energy efficient cars but hasn't done a single thing to move in that direction. In fact he has obstructed it. My next phase is a rant so I'll stop here. I've made my point.

1

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

If you are retarded enough to believe that, you dont deserve your trailer.......

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, please present the Obama administration's energy program. Please, please, please. I know a bunch of democrat's that want to see it.

0

A bushell of grain for a barrell of oil and so on.

1

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 2 months ago

The media is DEAD. Did you see the Valentine's Day political cartoon in the Herald? It was absolutely priceless and right on the money.

0

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 2 months ago

Here it is. Best cartoon of 2013.

3

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 2 months ago

And yes, I "cut and pasted" this cartoon. I didn't draw it.

1

TrixibelleBento 1 year, 2 months ago

Right, if the POTUS doesn't have control over them, then why all the Bush bashing when gas fluctuated under his leadership? It's all a double standard--when the GOP is in office, everything is their fault, but when the Dems are in office, they "inherited" those same issues or the folks on the left fall silent. The time to blame Bush has now sailed, even though the left continues to tell us that this is the worst economy since the Stone Age and they are making it right.

Same with the SS tax holiday...when that ended, NO ONE asked Obama why he said that there would be no tax increases. Technically yes, that tax was a holiday, but he should've come clean and said that the tax holiday was coming to an end, and more "investment" would have to be made to our future. Recovery is coming! Yeah...

2

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 2 months ago

The official White House position is "The economy is roaring back".

0

Bulldawg 1 year, 2 months ago

I think all of the "lawmakers" (ie professional nabobs) need to take a whole bottle of beano and call me in the morning. The all like a Thankgiving turkey stuffed full of...well you know. :)

0

VSU 1 year, 2 months ago

Exactly...When Bush was president the media and democrats were all over him about the gas prices, with Obuma, you don't hear a whimper.

1

Thurman 1 year, 2 months ago

I still do not understand this one: I watced a gasoline tanker truck unload at a local station late one evening. The next morning the station's gas price for regular had jumped $.09/gallon. Did this truck load of gas cost the station more per gallone or was the station charging more per gallon for the old priced gas? The same goes for grocerty stores. They charge one price, say on Monday, then increase the pricing on Wednesday for an item that has been on the shelf for a week or so.

0

hotdog 1 year, 2 months ago

whoever was blaming Bush for gas prices is an idiot ( even though he does own oil wells in La. and Tex)....whoever is blaming the current POTUS is equally misinformed as well.....

Texas Republicans with bumper stickers on their pickup trucks blaming President Obama for soaring gas prices surprisingly have one thing in common with Bay Area drivers who bought a Prius last decade to cope with sky-high fuel prices they pinned on George W. Bush.

They paid the exact same for gas under both presidents.

As the election nears and fuel costs continue to rise, Republicans say Mitt Romney could ease our pain at the pump if he is elected, using the same strategy as Democrats who blamed Bush for gas prices four years ago.

But despite having polar opposite energy plans, Obama and Bush experienced virtually the same gas price problem, suggesting just how little control the most powerful man in the world has over this hot-button issue.

Consider that the average price of a regular gallon of gas at U.S. pumps was $1.85 when Bush was sworn in for his second term in January 2005 and $1.84 when Obama took office in January 2009 on the promise of change, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Adjusting for inflation, prices rose to $2.52 (Bush) and $2.53 (Obama) seven months into their terms, $2.76 and $2.71, respectively, nearly two years in and $3.27 each three years in. This month, gas is $3.85, more than a dime cheaper than at this point during Bush's second term when adjusted for inflation.

The average, through 45 months in office? Obama: $3.04; Bush's second term: $2.98.

Show us where you are getting your figures from, because we all would like to know. I find your figures somewhat skewed to suit your personal agenda.

1

Jax 1 year, 2 months ago

Are you being sarcastic, Bulldawg? How in the world can you tell what his agenda is from that? He laid out figures that tell us that gas prices are pretty much the same under Obama as they were under Bush. That doesn't seem skewed to either side.

0

Bulldawg 1 year, 2 months ago

Take it whatever way you want to. I am saying that the numbers are quite close to show that it is not Obama's fault.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

bottom line...The President has nothing to do with it....

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

In the short run no. In the long run he has massive influence which he is not utilizing for the good of the American people (neither did W).

0

VSU 1 year, 2 months ago

I have no problem with not blaming Obuma for the gas prices, my complaint is that everybody blamed Bush for it when he was president. Perfect example of double standard. When Bush was president the media and democrats were in an uproar over the gas prices. We need to get Bush out of office, we need to impeach Bush, Bush keeps allowing these gas prices to jump up. Now then Obuma comes in, prices are still high and are going up again, but suddenly the same people that condemned Bush switches gears and all of a sudden "It's not the presidents fault, he has no control over the gas prices." What a bunch of hypocrites.

1

fcarroll 1 year, 2 months ago

What i hate the most about this obama mess is, the ones of us that did not vote for him is going to suffer under his administration than the ones that did. We will have to pay for all the free handouts to his friends that does not work, never has worked and never intends to. God help us all before this is all over. If Bush had of done some of the things this president has, he would have long sinced been impeached. I guess the mediorite that hit Korea and killed over 1000 people so far is to be blamed on Bush and not on the atmosphere.

1

VSU 1 year, 2 months ago

Meteorite that hit Korea and killed over 1000 people? I didn't hear about that one. I heard a Meteorite exploded over Russis and injured 500 people, but haven't heard about the one in Korea unless that was at another time.

Ihope4albany 1 year, 2 months ago

How is President Obama responsible for the gas price. Give it a break.

I hope that Albanians will begin to see the Revelation of greater things to come! Worrying about gas prices is the least of your problems.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

The ignorant REPUBS started that kinda talk because the Democrats dragged George Bush about it.......But he was such a bad President, it really didnt matter....

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Obama is an ineffective president as well. I agree with his mideast policy regarding armed intervention but that's about all he's done that has any quality to it. He did continue the TARP bail out which W and Paulson initiated but not much else. I still think Obama would be (and W have been) a better president if Monica Lewinsky was back in the WH.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

I disagree....Obama actually cares about all people....Bush only cared about a certain group of people(and you know who it is) .........remember Hurricane Katrina???? and Look how a real President handled Hurricane Sandy....BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

I agree that the Bush administration handled Katrina disastrously. I also know the stupid mayor Ray Nagle of Chocolate New Orleans held the evacuation of it's citizens for three days causing incredible damage to public property, deaths, displacement and mayhem. I know the stupid democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco refused to order a state of emergency until the damned levies were bulging. I'm not sure what you are talking about with Obama. There were thousands of families left homeless for weeks (and still are) after Sandy along NJ and NY shore (moreso). The only thing Obama did was flip the switch for the taxpayers money to be spent and for the most part stayed out of the way. If it hadn't been for Chris Christie Obama would have been crucified. I don't doubt Obama cares about people but he needs to do his job as POTUS. You can say he's a better president than Bush and US Grant, big deal. He promised change you can believe in and the only change he has delivered is pocket change.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

You are wrong about Hurricane Sandy......Governor Christie got on national television and was gracious and thankful to the support given by President Obama. He was nothing without the support of the President in that crisis. Many lives were spared while hundreds died in New Orleans (maybe thousands). George Bush reacted to that tragedy very very late and allowed those people to die. He showed America that he could care less about those people dying and proved it by showing up when he felt like it. Obama reacted quickly with aid and saved many many people in N.J. So, dont compare Obama to Bush in handling a Natural Disaster because there is no comparison. Obama is a MUCH BETTER PRESIDENT!!!! Stop watching FOX NEWS and get your facts right.....

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck wrote: "Governor Christie got on national television and was gracious and thankful to the support given by President Obama." My point exactly. He made Obama look bipartisan and presidential by being so effusive in his presentation. He also refused to campaign with Mittens creating a great deal of consternation in the GOP. It was a pick up that made the day for Obama given the drubbing he was experiencing as a result of the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Libya. Memory and reason isn't your long suit is it? Now again as to Obama's accomplishments during Hurricane Sandy's clean up. He did his basic duty by turning on the money switch from the US taxpayers and keeping his but out of the way. As I remember he didn't perform any magical feat or drive a bulldozer. Chris Christy pretty much did the heavy lifting with FEMA agents paid for by the US taxpayers. Which by the way is the same thing that Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and Mayor Michael Blumberg did. But what did Ray Nagel of Chocolate City New Orleans or Gov. Kathleen Blanco do. NOTHING! In fact the idiot Nagel refused to evacuate the city while his transit system was functional but let hundreds of buses sit in the parking lot and flood when tens of thousands of people could have been evacuated. Bush had nothing to do with that. It was that dumb a_ _ Nagel and hysterical Blanco. I've won the argument here handily proving once again that Obama did absolutely nothing heroic and deserves no credit beyond doing his basic job and keeping out of the way. It was Christy and Christy alone that elevated Obama in the scenario.

Now, Bubbaneck, let's go back to all your hooting and hollering on Obwan's gasoline and energy impact. Revisit the originial issue and as I implored above - " please present the Obama administration's energy program. Please, please, please. I know a bunch of democrat's that want to see it. " Answer the question about the topic of this thread. Don't start caterwauling about how great Obama is in comparison to George Bush or James Buchanan. Just tell us what Obama's energy policy is? If you really want to discuss what a poor manager he is we can talk about that later, just tell us about your man Obama's energy plan. Stick to the subject. Tell us. The world awaits the announcement.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Proof again that Christie carried the day for Obama in 2012 and for himself in 2016. And BTW, it's pretty clear the Jersey Governor is really impressed you since you've relied on him to argue your point about Obwan's greatness. Concluding my triumph in the match as you offer no concrete evidence of your boy's achievements. Game Over.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

Christie made my point for you........(I rule)

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Yes absolute proof that Christie made the day for Obama in 2012 and for himself in 2016. Obwan sent the taxpayers money and kept out of the way. Best thing in the world given his abilities or lack thereof.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Finally! You accept that it was Christie that elevated Obwan to the spotlight not the president's actions after Sandy. Christie was the muscle, Obama was the hustle. Obwan's contribution was that he signed a directive and kept out of the way just ask Little Napoleon the Mayor of NYC who all but ordered Obwan away. It was all contrived and sponsored courtesy of Christie. You were impressed with Christie's performance just as Obwan was and it worked on people with like minds. You accept my point and win obtusely but graciously in your defeat!

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubba neck, still waiting here to read your big announcement on Obwan's energy policy.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

Since you obviously dont know how to search anything, I have provided one link for you and your energy plan that you sooo desperately want to see.....

http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/03/30/obama.energy/index.html

When you get done.....feel free to try and find something wrong with it as if you can do better....and as if you know it all.....sorry, you dont.......view it and weap.....

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, this is a political speech in which Obwan announces a goal of cutting back on imported oil sometime in the future. It is not a plan. It is falderal. Do you know what a plan is? Do you know what a comprehensive energy plan is? If you do call Obwan and tell him for he obviousl does not. If you happen to see a plan it will have a statement of circumstances that need attention; it will offer short term objectives to meet long term goals; it will offer the methods/services to achieve the plan; it will include techniques and intervals to assess and adjust the plan and finally the implementation/application and how they proceed. In this case it will be a written proposal or draft legislation showcasing a plan. Look for buzzwords like "natural gas" "carbon based fuels" "nuclear energy" "pipeline" "wind turbines" "hydrogen fuel cell ( a real game changer)". Just to site a few. Now, again, where do you find a comprehensive energy policy/plan for your buddy, Obama? I know your dog can bark and do party tricks, but can he hunt? He promised real change but the only thing we have seen is pocket change and well, a linen change in the WH. You are too easy Bubbaneck I give you two points for trying but you're losing the match.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

He does not owe you any explanations and neither do I. Who do you think you are? You are just another complaining Repub still mad because Romney the Fool lost!!! You will never be satisfied and neither will the complaining RIGHT like Rush, and Hannity.....just keep whining......meanwhile, the rest of America will be doing fine.......If you listen carefully, he was clear about his energy plans way back in 2011....but with a hateful republican congress, you cant get but so much done.....so, this is where we are.....

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Are you crazy? I don't give a rip about W. You couldn't say enough nasty things about that sucker to satisfy me. Charging he is incompetent to prove Obama is magnificent is as irrational as you can get. My response is 2 fold. (Work with me here.) Number1: W's disastrous response to Katrina was hand in hand with the incompetent mayor of Choclate City, Ray Nagel and Madame Hysterium, Kathleen Blanco as compared to the very strong response from Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi. Number 2: Obama did 2 humongous things a. he turned on the faucet of the American taxpayer by signing his name on a FEMA directive; and b. stayinging out of the way. When he asked Mayor Blumenthal to meet with him he demurred because he was busy with the clean-up. Gov. Christie was far more politically accommodating and spoke with him on the phone, flew aboard Marine helicopter with him, held a joint press conference with the paparazzi, paid some compliments to Obwan for taking his calls and sending the taxpayers money up to the Shore and refused to campaign with Prince Mitternich. Which made Obwan look incredibly good and took a lot of heat of by making the prez "look" presidential and bi-partisan (Christie being a republican and all), Another major achievement of this was to set Christie up for 2016 as a different Republican breed who can reach across the table to the other party even if it is to grasp some taxpayers money. With Obama completing the perfunctory, baseline chores of his position by sending taxpayers money to the Jersey shore, is that what you call a grand and glorious achievement? Christie gave Obama the stage and the bounce for a number of different reasons. Obama did not perform a feat of magic or drive a dump truck, kept his arse out of the way in NJ & NY. I've won the re-match on the argument too. You just are unable to process what you read, hear and see. Obwan promised us real change but we only get pocket change. Some would even say short changed, but I give him credit for baseline performance in Sandy, nothing more.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

BUBBANECK, SHOW ME THE PLAN! For a long time I have wanted to ask someone who actually supports Obama to name some identifiable accomplishments that will be able to place him in history's positives. At this point I find relatively few and probably more that will cast him in the shadows of achievers than ascendancy.

SHOW ME THE PLAN! The Good Book Says: "You have eyes--can't you see? You have ears--can't you hear?' Don't you remember anything at all? "

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, I'm waiting. Where is the plan? Show me Obwan's energy plan for America. I say Obama has damaged the chances of a meaninful energy plan because he and the democrats and republicans are in the pockets of multinational oil corporations and the ethanol lobby. I say Obama had a chance to change things but blew it intentionally and is therefore more culpable than any other because he has the intellect to know better but not the character to do better. Real change you can belive in, my foot. It's pocket change and copper colored at that.

Now, come on show me the energy plan. Don't plum google and come up with some political balderdash speech. A first grader can do that. Show me Obama's energy plan for America. So far the only thing you've proved is the Texas adage that Obwan's all hat and no cattle. Where's the beef? Fourth quarter, 2 minutes left, you are on your own 2 yard line. If you don't want to get skunked you gotta come up with something. 21 to zip, your home field. You gotta show the home crowd you can score against this cracker.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, don't tell me you are still pumping the google! Good gracious, man. Show me the plan.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

Nawl man, its not my job to show you anything. I already proved my point and wiped the floor with you. I backed up my points with video footage straight from horses mouth........even if you had a energy plan, what are you going to with it? NOTHING! You are just another REPUB whom is never satisfied because you are probably just mad the POTUS is a BROTHER!!!! (am I right?) Admit it..... Because he has done a good job in 4 years, and was re-elected by the smarter people of America to get to 8 years.......so, your wanting a energy plan is meaningless.....The video I provided showed his plans back in 2011......why cant you just listen to it? Let it sink in....and deal with it....C'Mon man!!! GIVE UP!!!! You can't mess with the best........

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

See. I told you about this. You are still pumping the google. Man, you gotta think for yourself. This is just more lickspittle to curry favor with the chumps in the democratic line up.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, I don't care if POTUS is a brother or a mother. Don't wallow in the gutter by manufacturing an issue of racism. That dog won't hunt either. What you got is a man that aint ready for prime time. He had two solid years to get things going with a full democratic majority in both houses and couldn't even get a White House staff that could function and he's a community organizer. He tapped that Chicago chump Rahm Emanuel to be his Cof S who picked fights with every leader in both parties. Immaturity? That was his good point. The two areas he could claim solid achievement in were military and foreign affairs and look who managed those W's man Gates wasn't paroled, Panetta-Slick Willie's boy and Hillary Clinton his nemesis. He certainly deserves credit for selecting and keeping those 3 and they carried their weight and paid for their freight. But for the domestic program let's see what the community organizer did for his people: economy- he elected to overlook it in favor of re-election so he scores in the negative there. Energy - speeches and prattle. He is owned by multi-national oil. He will not do anything but give lip service. In other word, he will blow smoke up your butt and try to convince you to taste ice cream. Tax reform - nope, still trillions of dollars sitting in overseas accounts looking for a way to come back and produce jobs. Scores of forms few people understand but damned well better submit them. Jobs - this country has between 15 and 20% of its people unemployed another 15 are underemployed. Obama has done little. I agree with his working with the manufacturors but that saved only some jobs and didn't create them. Education- lip service and blather. Environment - he's made things worse. Education - nothing, zilch, zero. Science and technology - NASA is being put on moth balls. Immigration - let's have another laugh, amigo. Healthcare - sold out to big pharma. Failed to correct problems with Medicare part D. Cobbled together something and nobody knows just what. It's obvious the middle class wage earner will pay for it. Obama will go down in history for two basic things (at this point) that are good and one that is dubious (jelling). The first is obvious he is the first Negro to be elected to the White House. Secondly the foreign and military service achievements - death of Osama bin Laden, use of drones and de-escalating mid-east conflicts. The third is the health care bill and that don't look positive just yet. Politicaly Obama just hasn't been an achieving president and should never have run. He admitted as much saying just months prior to his decision that he wouldn't run for the presidency because he was not qualified. He's politically an adolescent and his actions have manifest his confession of being unqualified. Point, game, set, match. Time for my evening elixir.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

Man, lay off the Fox News.........you need something else to do!!! O'Reilly, Hannity, and Beck just gave you a round of applause. Focus your energy on solutions instead of criticism when you know you are doing fine under this great President. I know I am without government assistance or any type of handouts. I am a proud member of the middle class who pays more taxes than any other class. But, I'm good....no complaints here....I am proud of the POTUS and so should you......LONG LIVE BARACK OBAMA!!!!

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 1 month ago

Bubbaneck, the applause you hear is for my victory and all Americans love a winner as you noted in one of the other threads. You are a gracious loser I must admit. Glad to see you aint pumping the google in your note. Adieu.

0

bubbasmithredneck 1 year, 1 month ago

I did not lose anything as I am not wrong....I was correct about Hurricane Katrina and George Bush, and I backed it up with video proof.....I was correct about how Obama did a great job helping Christie with Sandy, and I was correct about the President having a energy plan as you call it.....he just needs to get his plan into action because gas prices are on the rise again. (even though its not his fault)....so, dont get it twisted my man....BUBBA WINS HIS POINT!!! (again).... yes, you made some good points also.....as you tried to drag in a "energy plan" into the discussion....then you tried to make it my responsibility to give you one.....what the hell????? What kinda debating skill is that? I dont have the Presidents plans in my back pocket waiting on you...are you crazy????
