Deceased man ID’d; autopsy planned

ALBANY, Ga. — An Albany Police Department report stated that 55-year-old Ernest M. Cook was the man found dead in an abandoned auto repair-shop at approximately 4:20 p.m. Thursday.

Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said that the cause of death was not determined.

An autopsy at an Atlanta crime lab would be scheduled, he added.

Fowler said that he did not see any evidence of foul play connected to the death.

The body was found in a dilapidated white concrete block building on Old Radium Springs Road behind the Oglethorpe Boulevard Maryland Fried Chicken restaurant by a friend of Cook’s.
