HARBOR, Dez’Alron Cassius, son, was born Feb. 8 to Dedric Jr. and Kelsey Harbor of Leesburg.

SUMNER, Elizabeth Grace, daughter, was born Feb. 4 to Gordon and Jessica Sumner of Albany.

SMITH, Jarris Jr. Jermaine, son, was born Feb. 3 to Shardae Nelson of Sylvester.

WHATLEY, Jailyn Ma’Khia, daughter, was born Feb. 9 to Jason and Taneisha Whatley of Leesburg.

WHITE, Co’Bryant Jameel, son, was born Feb. 5 to Lachanta Hollis and Cobrenton White of Dawson.

Birth announcements are printed Sunday in The Herald’s SouthView section. Announcements are submitted to the newspaper by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital through a parental release. Out-of-town births with local connections can submit birth notices by asking the hospital where the child was born to submit the information by fax to (229) 888-9357 or by mail to Births, SouthView, c/o The Albany Herald, P.O. Ruby and MRKIA, you must have an inordinate amount of time on your hands to regularly make snide remarks of parents' choices for their children's name. I might not find all the names appealing, but they're really not my business (nor yours). Thank God I don't feel it necessary to to make derogatory comments and pronounce them criminals before they're a week old. And by the way, times have changed. I know some affluent physicians now with names you'd call stupid. Get over your old haggardly selves.

Funky names get overlooked by hiring managers so you can stay black all u want but yer putting yer kid behind the 8 ball on day 1. Thats just stupid. Very stupid.
