Southern AG not involved in fatal incident
Staff Reports
ALBANY, Ga. — An article Saturday contained incorrect information regarding a traffic incident Thursday in Dawson in which two pedestrians were killed and a third was injured.
In the article, based on a verbal information from law enforcement authorities, an Albany Herald reporter incorrectly stated in the article that the tractor-trailer rig involved in the wreck was owned by Southern AG Carriers Inc.
The tractor involved in the incident was not owned by Southern AG Carriers.
Scotty Oxford, of Parrott, who Dawson Police Department officials said in a written statement Tuesday was listed as the driver of the tractor involved in the incident, was not an employee of Southern Ag Carriers.
An official with the Georgia State Patrol said the tractor is owned by Sedrick Peak Trucking.
Oxford turned himself in to law enforcement authorities in Eufaula, Ala. on Friday, Dawson police said in the statement. The rig that was used in the incident was found abandoned in Dawson, the statement said.
The case is being investigated by the State Patrol.
