ALBANY, Ga. — Seven Georgia airports, including Southwest Georgia Regional Airport, are on the list for possible closure of FAA air-control towers.

In addition to Albany, the Georgia airports on the list are Athens-Ben Epps, Athens; Cobb County-McCollum Field, Atlanta; Columbus Metropolitan, Columbus; Fulton County-Brown Field, Atlanta; Gwinnett County-Briscoe Field, Lawrenceville, and Middle Georgia Regional, Macon.

If sequestration cuts go through on March 1 as now scheduled, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said that 100 small airports will be selected from the list that includes the seven in Georgia.
