ALBANY, Ga. — A fire at Cedar Apartments, 1013 Cedar Ave., prompted a response by the Albany Fire Department Wednesday morning.
According to Lt. Eddie Goff with the fire department, the fire started in the upstairs section of apartment 7A and was contained before spreading downstairs or to other residences. Goff said the blaze began when a 5-year-old child found some matches and set curtains on fire. Firefighters quickly controlled the flames with water from five separate department vehicles.
“The more equipment we have, the better off we are,” Goff said.
Firefighters left the scene around 12:30 p.m. Goff said members of the fire department would return to make certain nothing at the site had rekindled.
