Nick Yesbick of the Equity Investment Group in Smyrna requested zoning information from the city of Albany on behalf of PetSmart on a prospective location at 2707 Dawson Road in the Publix Shopping Plaza.

Stores such has PetSmart, Pet Supermarket, Petco and Pet Sense require special zoning considerations because they offer services such as pet grooming and care.

According to its website, PetSmart is the largest retailer of specialty pet products in the country. Its outlets employ 50,000 associates and operate 1,269 stores and more than 195 in-store PetSmart PetsHotels® dog and cat boarding facilities in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Are they looking to put Pet Supermarket out of business or do they think the town will support both? It's their money. Welcome aboard!

I predict one of them will not survive. So what, you add jobs on one side, and subtract jobs on the other. Is there that much demand for pet supply stores?

I love Pet Supermarket and will continue to buy there. They have a card where you purchase so much dog food and then you get a bag free. Probably will not change to the other one.

Petsmart would be a great addition to Albany. If I'm not mistaken, they offer services and supplies that Pet Supermarket does not. Petsmart would be my first choice of the two. It would be great if we could get Ulta to come to Albany, they're far and above anything we have now, including Sephora.

If it took Olive Garden 25 years, we can expect Petsmart to open around 2038.
