ALBANY, Ga. — A widely known Albany businessman and chairman of Phoebe Putney Health System’s board of directors will be roasted tonight as part of a major fundraisers for Albany Technical College.
Lem Griffin, co-owner, president and CEO of Flint River Services, will be the target of the good-natured barbs. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction in the center’s atrium.
As a member of the board of the Boy Scouts of America, Griffin has dedicated many hours and financial resources to the Boy Scouts for a number of years. He also serves as the local Salvation Army board chairman and is on the boards of Security Bank, Flint River Water Council and the Albany Tech Foundation Inc.
Griffin and his wife, Linda Merritt Griffin, have two children and four grandchildren.
Roasters for the evening include Joel Wernick, CEO of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital; W.F. Griffin; Laurence Crimmins, a retired physician and member of the Phoebe Health System board; John Culbreath, retired superintendent of the Dougherty County School System; Carol Fullerton, state representative for House District 153; and Anthony O. Parker, president of Albany Technical College.
The roast tonight is one of two major Albany Tech fundraisers conducted each year. A golf tournament will be held in the fall.

John Culbreth was also superintendent for Randolph Co. Schools.
