LEESBURG, Ga. — While responding to a silent panic alarm at the Doublegate EE-ZZ Mart at 12:49 a.m. Thursday, one of the Lee County deputies spotted the suspect's vehicle and gave chase, according to Chief Deputy Lewis W. Harris, Jr. with the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The deputy soon lost contact with the suspect.
At 4:03 a.m. Thursday, another deputy discovered the alleged robber's vehicle on the 100 block of Cedric Street in Lee County. The deputies were able to apprehend the suspect without incident and transport him to the Lee County Jail, officials said.
According to officials, John E. Hill III, 42, was wearing the same clothes and in possession of the knife used in the robbery of the EE-ZZ mart, at 1250 Highway 82 West.
Hill has been charged with one count of armed robbery by intimidation and one count of attempting to elude, the report said.
