ALBANY -- Nora Lucille Topshe Ernst, 89, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, in Albany, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM with a rosary from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Mrs. Ernst was born in Albany on May 8, 1923, and soon moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where she attended St. Peter's Catholic School. Mrs. Ernst returned to Albany as a young girl and was a graduate of Albany High School. She began her career with Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant and later opened Albany Travel Agency. Mrs. Ernst was a volunteer for the Golden Key Club and worked part time at ARC until October 2012. Her passions in life included her daughter and her grandchildren, entertaining, cooking, traveling, gardening, needlework and a strong love for animals. She was known and loved by all as Mama Nora.
She was the daughter of the late Lebanese immigrants Joseph Topshe and Effie Koosa, both of Lebanon. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ernst was preceded in death by her husband Hilmar Furst Ernst Jr., brother Fred Topshe, of Columbia, SC, brother Joe Topshe of Albany, brother Norman Topshe and sister in law Juliet Davis Bowman, and nephew Norman Joseph Topshe, Jr. all of Atlanta.
Mrs. Ernst is survived by her daughter, Hilary Irene Ernst Houston, son in law George Leon (Skip) Houston III, grandchildren Hilmar Furst (Hill) Houston and Jacqueline Cross (Jackie) Houston, nieces and nephews Beverly Topshe, Fred Topshe Jr., Angela Topshe and Michael Topshe all of Columbia SC. Sondra Topshe Coletti of Sandy Springs, Robert and Loretta Topshe Thornburg of Roswell, Sherman and Cheryl Topshe Wade of Marietta, Richard and Denise Topshe Mastry of St. Petersburg, FL, Joe and Trina Topshe Kriss of Marietta, Jeff and Leisa Topshe Davis of Peachtree City, William and Michelle Topshe Carswell of Albany and Dena Topshe Watson of Tifton.
