Lone Democrat bows out of Senate race

BLAKELY, Ga. — The lone Democrat hoping to replace former State Sen. John Bulloch in the District 11 Senate race has withdrawn from consideration.

The Thomasville Times-Enterprise reported that Early County resident Lisa Collins has bowed out of the race, leaving only a field of Republicans and one Libertarian for consideration of the seat.

Republican candidates Dean Burke, Brad Hughes, Mike Keown and Eugene “Gene” McNease, and Libertarian Jeffrey G. Bivins are up for consideration in a special election set for Tuesday in the district that covers a good portion of Southwest Georgia.

Bulloch announced his resignation in December following lingering health issues from a bout of meningitis earlier in the year.

Please join me in celebrating the election and swearing-in of Senator Tim Scott (R), the first Black U.S. Senator to be elected from South Carolina. God Bless You, Senator Scott and do your best to represent those that sent you to Washington.

Sister Ruby. you are so excited becasue a black was either appointed or elected ( SCOTT) for US Senator......... Are you excited just becasue he is a BLACK man or are you excited becasue you feel he is qualified to hold the office ??? The election that got OBAMA was majority vote becasue he was Black Not that he was qualified for the job... Why would you be excited about Obama's sign that orginally was a Communist smbol ??????? Don't worry Obama is working as hard as he can to make America a Communist country and then we will see how proud you are of your Black man !!!!!!!!!! then we will see how you like it when the government runs everything and everybody and they remove all of your freedoms..........YOU should already know what a mess the government makes of everything that they take over from the past... look at Social security for instance... Now our stupid black president has gave a raise for Congress but then increases taxes because the government needs money to pay for all of these government programs they have created. Obama gave raises to Congress who doesn't work and reduces the take home pay rest of us that works... Good Move on his part do you think????? PEOPLE THAT THINKS LIKE YOU DO IS ONE REASON THIS COUNTRY IS IN SUCH BAD FINANCIAL SHAPE AND OBAMA AND CONGRESS IS TAKING AWAY ALL OUR FREEDOMS ONE BY ONE...

classydi, obviously you haven't been on here very long, as Sister Ruby has been one of the main people bashing Obama. LOL! In fact, knowing Sister I would imagine she agrees with most of what you just said, so don't hate on Sister Ruby, she is on the same side.

True conservatives value disagreement. It brings forth new ideas. Scientists are always trying to prove each other wrong. We do not follow a Messiah. Tim Scott may disappoint some, but conservatives do not attack in a pack. That is a liberal practice.

Senator Scott was not elected he was appointed, and while I do celebrate his accomplishment, here's hoping he puts country first. and not party.

classydi, saying the 'first Black senator" is just like saying the first "woman Sec of State", first 'Black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs" first "Hspanic on the Supreme Court"...it is a deserved noting of an event that has not occurred before and is worthy of that note due to the historical context...there will never be another 'first" in that area. Jumping on Sister Ruby like a rabid possum...you got some issues. Appointed doesn't mean dragged from a back room and given a brass ring. The State Goverment/party staff made a choice as they felt was best for the prople represented. He will have a chance at election soon enough. Better to think the best rather than wish the worst.

Everybody around here knows that Sister Ruby "puts the TAR in AVATAR" around these here parts! (Sorry for using the third person but it seemed appropriate in this case)
