ATLANTA — While few people below the gnat line managed to crack Georgia Trend's 2013 class of "100 Most Influential Georgians," a handful of notables from the Southwestern portion of the state made the cut this year.
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Moultrie, U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Albany, Alec Poitevint, the chairman and president of Southeastern Minerals in Bainbridge, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital CEO Joel Wernick and former State Sen. John Bulloch of the 11th district were named in the latest edition of Georgia Trend magazine.
The magazine also named Gov. Nathan Deal the 2013 Georgian of the Year.
"Is this the definitive list that completely reflects the realities of leadership in Georgia? It's a start. It's how we start every year," Georgia Trend Editor Jerry Grillo points out in the preface to the list. "And if it generates discussion and debate, it's a good start."
