LEESBURG, Ga. — Harry Hornbuckle, son of Alex and Myric Hornbuckle of Leesburg, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army.
Hornbuckle, of Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, was promoted during a recent ceremony at Fort Carson, Colo. The infantry officer from Tifton was given a certificate of promotion by Lt. Col. Michael Martin, commander of the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd BCT.
A 1992 graduate of Tift County High School, Hornbuckle graduated from The Citadel in 1996. He completed his masters at Troy University in 2008. Hornbuckle has completed airborne, air assault, ranger and Pathfinder schools. He has earned the Combat Infantry and Expert Infantry badges.
His awards also include the Bronze Star medal with Valor device, two Bronze Star medals, three meritorious service medals, the presidential and meritorious unit citations and armed forces expeditionary medal.
He has served in positions ranging from rifle platoon leader to brigade executive officer with two company commands.
Hornbuckle is married to the former Vicki Yawn of Tifton, and has two sons, Alex and Zachary.
