One arrested in armed robbery

ALBANY, Ga. — The search continued into Monday for a second suspect thought to be connected to a weekend armed robbery at the Sleep Inn on Dawson Road.
The incident was reported to the Albany Police Department a little before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The victim, 31-year-old Richard Reeder from Cartersville, told police that two men robbed him at gunpoint at the hotel before fleeing the scene, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman with the APD.
Reeder’s wallet, as well as the keys to his work truck, were stolen. There were no reports of injuries, Banks said.
Immediately following the incident, police units were sent out the Magnolia Street, Gillionville Road, Maryland Drive area in search of the two suspects. The first suspect was described as an armed black male wearing army camo pants and a black hoodie, while the second suspect was described as a black male wearing army camo pants and a black puffy jacket.
It was unclear as of the filing of the report if the second suspect was armed.
By 9 a.m. Sunday, Michael Whitaker, 34, had been arrested after being identified as one of the suspects connected to the crime. According to jail records, he is being charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime or attempt of a crime and possession of cocaine.
The search continued for the second suspect continued Monday.
