JONESBORO -- Patricia Anne Scherff Feit, originally from Long Island, New York, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 after a battle with Alzheimer's. She was 84 years old. Pat lived in Albany from 1970 to 1994 when she moved to Fayetteville, Georgia to be near her growing family. She is survived by her husband, Stephen John Feit, three daughters, Suzanne Norman, Claudia Phillips, and Amanda Gainer; son-in-law David Norman, four grandsons and one great grandson.
During her years in Albany, Pat worked in the humanities department of Darton College, then Albany Junior College. She and her husband, principal of Turner Elementary School, served on the boards of the Albany Little Theatre and the Do Co Credit Union. They were active with the Georgia Principals' Association. After moving to Fayetteville, she participated in the Meals on Wheels organization and was among the first group of volunteers at the Fayette Community Hospital when it opened its doors in 1997. She always remembered her years in Albany as being among the most fulfilling years of her life.
Pat generously donated her body to the Georgia Health Science University. Her service will be held Saturday, January 12 at 2:00 pm Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Community, 3088 Lenox Road NE in Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Remembrances may be sent to 145 Hampton Woods Drive, Fayetteville, GA, 30215.
