ALBANY, Ga. — Annette Smith, 54, was run over by a 2002 Ford F-350 in the parking lot of Prince Chevrolet on the 1000 block of Slappey Boulevard at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, stated an Albany Police Department report.
Smith was in good condition in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital at about 7 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman said. She was taken from the Chevrolet dealership by a Dougherty County EMS unit.
According to the police report, the driver of the pickup, whose name was unavailable, got out of the truck and put the gear in park. "A gear malfunction caused the vehicle to go in reverse. Smith was run over and a second vehicle was struck," the report said.
A retired sheriff's deputy from Blakely jumped into the pickup and stopped it. The pickup also damaged a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville for sale on the lot . Buddy Carver, the dealership manager, said, "I just hope she is all right."
