Life long Republican and will continue to be... I think the Tea party has hurt the party a lot more than anything.... too radical for many.. just an observation...
I don't think they were radical at all......they just want fiscal responsibility which the country desparately needs. They were "radicalized" because they were constantly demonized by Democrats (especially the lies told by the Congressional Black caucus) and the constant drumbeat of the liberal mainstream media to make the public believe they were extreme.
If this country does not get its fiscal house in order and significantly reduce spending on all fronts, I truly believe we are going to crumble. You can't ring up Trillion Dollar deficits each and every year and not collapse at some point. Obama has ZERO interest in stopping the spending. In fact He wants to spend more. I truly believe He is doing this to destroy America (just like He promised.....to fundamentally change America).
Turn off the talk radio and get out more Sister. Your brain needs some fresh air...
Now Sis, I know you carry that hogleg in your skirt so I am gonna play nice. I 100% agree with you on holding the spending as we are running out of resources and the only thing we can do is print money. Defaulting on the debt will mean we can't borrow eventually. Keep in mind that 2 wars, an expensive tax cut (which I would have favored but for the spending), big pharma's medicare part D, Tarp and foreign service expansion were all the doings of W and the far right. I'm with you on the left invovlement and Obama's failure to address the total economic issue in his first term. Now put the hogleg up 'les you gonna clean it.
Here's a Great Idea! Let's just mint a few platinum $1 Trillion coins!?!? That'll make the problem disappear!!
Then whenever we piss away another $ Trillion $ in a trillion different ways, we can just pull one out and pay our debts.........kinda like throwing the Race Card any time a person of color gets caught doing wrong and criticized.
I saw that story and LOL. You are right fiscal responsibility doesn't have anything to do with race but spending has got to be a major focus for years to come. We are close in agreement on that I believe. Have a nice Saruddy.
I am a conservative and did confess to be a Republican until 1997. Newt and the crazies followed by the right wingnuts were just too much for me. Those guys weren't interested in America they were just interested in themselves. Gotten worse ever since. You can't tell them apart from the Democrats. They spent as much as the Democrats and started more wars that just ruined the country's economy and national prestige built under Regan, George HW Bush and Clinton. Too many sorry ass democrats jumped into the fold and claimed to be Republicans or Conservative, just like ole Sonny Purdue and Nathan Deal who aren't Republicans, they are opportunists. They are there to serve themselves not the people, their histories bear it out.
The G.O.P. is certainly in a quandary. For America's sake I hope they get their acts together.
And you think the Democrats have it together? Two peas in a pod. You had better hope that the Republican party does not go away, for along with that any hope for America goes with it. The Democrats cannot get past their lies and spending. Remember the USSR, long waiting lists for telephones, no jobs. That is where we are headed.
Good morning! Excellent comments on this subject. I can remember through the years when one party or the other was in disarray and people would question if that party could survive. They need to step back take a good hard look at themselves, re-organize and see what happens. The Democrats were in the same boat the Republicans are in now just in the past decade and it took several years to build again. There was a big divide in the parties after Watergate and those wounds may still be affecting the relationship between the parties. There does seem to be a further leaning to the left by the Dems. and a further leaning to the right by Reps. That leaves less common ground between the parties.
Well, I agree and that is why I hope that common ground between the parties is occupied by a new political movement that is fically responsible and get's the hell out of foreign mayhem.
Actually, if you look at the positions taken by Nixon, Regan and Bush 41. They would be run out of the republican party in today’s environment. Regan said he was a Democrat but the party left him… Well I could say I was a republican but the party left me. If you look at a ‘60s liberal you would see the Democratic party is way right of those positions. Bill Clinton moved the party more to the center.
We've never had a president named Regan.
Ah Sister, you know he meant Reagan.
The GOP just needs to get out more and throw away the Reagan handbook that pandered to blue-collar, white males. The US is more diverse, so turn off the radio, get out and spread the message. Believe it or not, but that message can work with people of color. Maybe not me, but maybe others...
Of course it has worked and does work. Anybody ever Heard of Thomas Sowell, Condoleeza Rice, Allen West, Alan Keyes, Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, Michael Steele, Mia Love, Lynn Swann, J.C. Watts, Walter Williams. My Brothers and my Sisters.
What do all these Black conservatives have in common? They have all been demonized and marginalized by the Black Activists (Jesse Jackson et al) as well as the Liberal Media. And let's not forget Tim Scott, the most recent Senatorial appointment from South Carolina.
Well, there were blacks, who supported Jim Crow, and felt that black radicals shouldn't upset the apple cart. While Rice and Steele on your list are moderate, those others are not. It's not about skin color, but message.
Apologies to Robert Griffin III, the young Black Republican Conservative QB, for leaving you off this short list of special people. I pray that God will heal you up real good and that you can get back on the football field asap. You are a fine young man. Best wishes for you and your fiance.
What a trollist squawk. Cynthia Tucker is irrelevant to either the death or survival of the Republican party.
It's amazing how any viewpoint that counters yours is consider trollist. However, it's not trollist to squawk about positions that demean welfare recipients and the City of Albany. Be consistent, Cartman. Are you saying that we should get rid of the Squawk of the Day, because 90% of them are meant to get a rise out of people? Things that make you go.... hmmm
When have I ever posted anything critical?
Where did I say that you posted anything critical? I'm just wondering why you're considering this squawk trollist when the Squawk Box is all about trolling.
I don't read her garbage anyway.
This is what the GOP needs to do to appeal to a diverse country. Stop offering examples of "people of color", such as Williams and Sowell, as examples of a party that is diversifying because skin color alone doesn't equate to diversity. Listen to their message. Is it one of hope and unity? Or is it a message of division and derision? Americans want to hear a message that is clear, hopeful, and positive.
If anybody thinks the Democrat party has diversity of thoughts and ideas, well they are dreaming. Their big boast is diversity of color, as we saw "created" every time the Obama Campaign's advance team hand picked the "audience" that would sit behind Him during His campaign speeches. And as for division.....do you hear how Obama (and the Democrats) pit the "middle class" against the "wealthy"?
You're being evasive. At least, Obama wants to protect the interest of the bottom 99%, rather than the top 1%. Wanna guess which group between those two is more diverse???
I'm just simply saying the yardstick you're using to measure "diversity" in the Republican party is not the same yardstick that gets applied to the Democrat party. That's not evasive.....that's demonstrating why what you said is hypocritical.
I love it when Democrats pontificate to Republicans on what they need to do. Don't quit now. You've almost got us convinced. rofl.
Continue with the status quo. That's fine with me. We saw who got the last laugh this past election.
Can everyone just sit back and imagine what this world would be like if Gore or any democrat was in office on 9-11-01? I am sorry, but Bush was in office 9 months and you can't tell me that Bin Ladin all of a sudden planned this in 9 months. He tried it several times under Clinton with no recourse. So PLEASE stop acting like the 2 wars weren't necessary, because the proud military saved lives and they know they were there for a reason.
The devil can take both parties. Or as someboy said, " a plague on both their houses." There isn't a dime's worth of difference on fiscal responsibility and international relations.
