The newly-designed 2013 Snickers' Marathon shirts were unveiled Friday, featuring Albany's iconic Oaks and runners crossing a red finish line.
ALBANY, Ga. — Organizers of the 2013 Snicker's Marathon and half marathon unveiled the shirt that will be given to those who sign up to run the race through Albany on March 2.
The race is one of three back-to-back-to-back events that have become one of Albany's signature weekends each year. Together with the SB&T Bike Race and the Mardi Gras Street festival, the event has become know as Albany's Rock, Roll and Run weekend.

The multicolored shirt includes runners crossing a red finish line while running under large green oak trees on white background, and was conceived and designed by Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager Rashelle Beasley, and the Albany-Area of Commerce's Rachelle Bitterman and Donna Gray.
"We felt like the oak trees were important because a good portion of the race goes through the Rawson Circle neighborhood under those beautiful trees," Beasley said. "It's a nice reminder for the runners of Albany that they can take back home with them."
The shirts are made from a water and sweat-resistant material that racers can wear as they're gliding through the streets of Albany on their course.
The shirts are only available to those participating in the race and are not for sale, Beasley said.
746 runners are currently registered. You can sign up at albanymarathon.com or by calling the Albany Welcome Center at 229-317-4760. Volunteers are also needed for the race.
Mardi Gras vendors are also being sought. This year's street festival will involve an even larger portion of downtown. Stages, vendors and entertainment will be set up on the 100 blocks of Pine, Broad and Washington and along Riverfront Park.
Anyone interested in participating should call Teresa Smith at the Welcome Center at 229-317-4760 to reserve a spot or get more information.

The Snicker's Marathon is a great event. It would have been helpful if the article included more information about times, dates, locations, contacts for all the events.

"Organizers of the 2013 Snicker's Marathon and half marathon unveiled the shirt that will be given to those who sign up to run the race through Albany on March 2." So March 2 is not only the sign up deadline it is also the date of the race. Okay. Now as to Mardis Gras and SB&T race, those occurring as well on March 2? And same telephone number for information? I don't mind working a bit for the information, if you don't mind telling it. Thanks.

It is fun all day long. Our neighborhood makes it a full day event with music, food and mimosas.
