CUTHBERT -- Sheriff Gary Yochum, Sr. 62, of Cuthbert Ga. died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert, Ga. Funeral services will be conducted today, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM, from the Cuthbert First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Williams officiating. Interment to follow in Eastview Cemetery in Cuthbert.

Sheriff Yochum was born July 1, 1950 ,in Macon, Ga. the son of the late William (Bill) and Margaret McFather Yochum. Mr. Yochum was a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church near Cuthbert, was a high school graduate and was a US Army veteran serving in Germany. Sheriff Yochum was the Sheriff of Randolph Co. and had just been reelected for a fourth term in November 2012. Sheriff Yochum was member of the Ga. Peace Officers Assn., the Ga. Sheriffs Assn. and the Policeman Benevolence Assn.

Survivors include his wife Brenda Mantooth Yochum of Cuthbert, 2 sons; Gary Yochum, Jr. and Brent Yochum both of Cuthbert, Ga. 1 sister; Kiona Yochum of Cuthbert, 1 brother -n-law; David (Debbie) Mantooth, of Moore OK, 1 sister-n-law; Bonnie Adams of Moore OK., 3 grandchildren,; Gary Yochum III, Tyler Yochum and Haley Yochum, and several cousins.

Visitation was held Monday, January 14, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Lunsford Funeral Home in Cuthbert, Ga.
