PELHAM -- Jack R. "Papa Jack" Huffmaster, 74, of Newton, GA died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Traveler's Rest Baptist Church with Bro. David Wolf to officiate and interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Carol Given, Bruce Earnest, Gene Hall, Clifford Allen, Keith Parrish, Wayne Pool and Gene Phillips.
Born on March 24, 1938 in Brooks Co., GA to the late Henry Robert and Emma Johnson Huffmaster, Jack Huffmaster was a retired farmer and pipefitter and a member of Traveler's Rest Baptist Church. Mr. Huffmaster was the youngest of seven siblings. He graduated from Quitman High School and also enjoyed raising quail. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, going to church and playing cards with the Monday Night Boys Club. "Papa Jack" received his endearing nickname when he moved to Baker County with his beloved wife, Gene, where he became a father to all who needed one.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Darlene Huffmaster; grandson, Shannon Swords; siblings, Henry Robert "Junior" Huffmaster, Emma Missouri "Emazoo" Huffmaster Huddleston, Floyd Huffmaster; stepchildren, Harvey Foy Henderson and Robert Eugene Henderson
Survivors include his wife, Lula Geneave "Gene" Duke Huffmaster of Newton, GA; daughter, Mary Jane Trotter and husband, Mark, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Adam Trotter and Sheena Watson; stepchildren, Robert Brown, Sue Brown Scott, Danny Brown and Billy Brown, all of Ashford, AL, Sammy Brown of Camilla, GA; Siblings, Lois Huffmaster Bennett of Thomasville, GA, Edna Mae Huffmaster Toole of Macon, GA, Jason Huffmaster of Spartanburg, SC.
Visitation was held Monday, January 14, 2013 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Jamerson Funeral Home in Pelham, GA
