SYLVESTER -- Mrs. Laylon Estelle Gunn "Granny" Walker, 94, Our Angel on earth gained her halo and sprouted her wings heaven bound to be with her Almighty God on January 11, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Wright's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating.
Mrs. Walker was born on September 6, 1918 in Worth County to the late Walter Van and Amanda Powell Gunn and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing and gardening. Granny loved life, her family and watching the Atlanta Braves. She was known as Granny and was a Granny to everyone. Mrs. Walker was a member of Wright's Chapel Church.
Survivors include her daughters, June Freeman of Albany, Patricia Pantone of Albany, Glenda McDermont of Palatka, FL, Cheryl Walker of Sumner, Debbie Davis (Ronnie) of Norman Park, Rita Patterson (Charlie) of Omega, Pam Renfro (Glen) of Fayetteville, NC and Brenda Sanders (Tim) of Lafayette, AL; son, Ronnie Walker of Sylvester, sisters, Idola McCawley of Sylvester, Myrtle Williams of Moultrie, Lougenia Cross of Sylvester and Lavera Hobby of Brunswick, 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Iverson Hardwick Walker; daughters, Karen Walker, Latrelle Walker and Tammy Walker; son, James Larry Walker and granddaughters, Marli Davis and Felicia Paige.
