Buster Posey won't play in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, giving himself extra time to rest the ankle that he injured in 2011.
SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Chronicle reported on Monday that Leesburg native and reigning NL MVP Buster Posey won’t play in the World Baseball Classic in March for the United States.
Sources told the Chronicle that the San Francisco catcher would “skip the WBC and spend all of spring training with the Giants.”
Minnesota’s Joe Mauer and Milwaukee’s Jonathan Lucroy will likely be the catchers for the U.S.
