Officers from the Albany Police Department respond to the scene at Mayfair Mobile Home Park in East Albany after a shooting there just after 2 p.m. Monday. A 36-year-old man was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as a result of the incident.
ALBANY, Ga. — A man was shot in the abdomen at an East Albany trailer park Monday afternoon, police officials say.
A 36-year-old man was shot around 2:10 p.m. on the 200 block of Cone Street at the Mayfair Trailer park. A suspect was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by investigators, Albany Police Department Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said.
Eddie Banks, 62, tossed a weapon out of his vehicle after firing it at least three times at Anthony Williams, police said.
The two men were believed to have been in an argument when the suspect retrieved a handgun and began firing shots toward the victim. The weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered, Banks said.
After completing interviews, Robbery/Homicide detectives learned that the initial argument between the two men started over a chain that was being used to do engine work on a vehicle that belonged to Williams.
Williams was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery late Monday afternoon. No word on his condition was available at press time. Detectives charged Banks with aggravated assault, and he is now in the Dougherty County Jail.
