Officers from the Albany Police Department respond to the scene at Mayfair Mobile Home Park in East Albany after a shooting there just after 2 p.m. Monday. A 36-year-old man was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as a result of the incident.

ALBANY, Ga. — A man was shot in the abdomen at an East Albany trailer park Monday afternoon, police officials say.

A 36-year-old man was shot around 2:10 p.m. on the 200 block of Cone Street at the Mayfair Trailer park. A suspect was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by investigators, Albany Police Department Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said.

Eddie Banks, 62, tossed a weapon out of his vehicle after firing it at least three times at Anthony Williams, police said.

The two men were believed to have been in an argument when the suspect retrieved a handgun and began firing shots toward the victim. The weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered, Banks said.

After completing interviews, Robbery/Homicide detectives learned that the initial argument between the two men started over a chain that was being used to do engine work on a vehicle that belonged to Williams.

Williams was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery late Monday afternoon. No word on his condition was available at press time. Detectives charged Banks with aggravated assault, and he is now in the Dougherty County Jail.

Want to bet it was an illegally posessed weapon? Or some scared to death homeowner trying to protect what was theirs?

Using violence to settle a disagreement (assuming that is what this is) is always wrong. When free and logical thought is overpowered and tamped down by a one sided view, frustration caused by a lack of the ability to express thoughts because of limited vocabulary, or growing into adulthood with TV violence beamed daily into homes, music glorifying violence and disrespect towards women, and seeing it acted out by adults in a child's only safehaven, his/her home, what are we to expect, sainthood? Our society breeds violence, and no amount of weapons restrictions will solve that. Hands, fists, etc killed over 1,800 Americans in 2011 (FBI Stat) This country lacks a Value System.

Ever notice that it's never an "assault" weapon? Does anyone ever remember a crime in Albany where an AK or AR was used?

Logic does not play into the thinking of panicked sheep. Firearms death by ALL rifles, including single shot hunting rifles, account for 3% all firearms homicide in the U.S. However, all the sheeple can fixate on are those evil looking black guns and how we can ban them.

". . . all the sheeple can fixate . . . ." hahahahahahahahahahaha!

Once again, when you disagree with someone, shoot, stab, or club them. Settle the argument quick and final if possible.

Wouldn't any weapon used in an assault....by default.....be an "assault weapon" ??

People so stupid some time!

No. It could be a defensive weapon unless it fires over 10 rounds.

You are old enough to remember that a model 61 or 63 winchester holds more rounds than that. Most every male child of a middle income family had one of those years ago. Never mind the Sears & Roebuck, Montgomery Ward and Western Auto semi automatics that were out there for those of us of lesser means. I believe they could hold 15 long rifles and 21 shorts, but my memory isn't that good anymore. Before you start to say the newer guns are a higher power level, there are an awful lot of dead hogs and a few deer that fell pray to those weapons. So they certainly would have been effective against humans. How about that Bomber back in the early 1900's that blew up a school and the students, then came back and blew up his car taking twelve more innocents with him? I believe it was in New York. When will people start placing the blame where it should be, the people, not the instrument. Vermont has very few gun laws, and only 2 people were murdered with guns last year. The differance between here and there are the people inhabiting the area, and apparently how they are raised.

Why 10 rounds? Why not 9 or 8?

Like I said, logic has no bearing on their thought process.

Man up, if you are dumb enough to shoot someone, come out and take it like a man. Too late to run and hide because they will get you. You should have thought of that before you pulled the trigger you piece of s...
