"Instead of defense cuts, let’s have cuts of 30 percent on all politicians, since they have all been unable to perform their duties. They have failed to complete any of their tasks on time. If they were part of a business organization, they would all be fired and replaced."

How about the simple, very achievable plan of reducing one penny from every single dollar spent bythe U.S. government with our tax money. That's only 1%. Do it for 5 years running. This simple step would balance the budget.
FryarTuk 4 months ago
Sis, I do not follow that. Please illucidate.

I agree with the direction of the squawk. A proposal I like is that no Senator, Representative or staff will be paid until a plan is in place to balance the budget and pay off our national debt. (Could be easy. Tweak the Simpson Bowles Proposal.)

I agree..no way they could survive in private sector...

However, they just got a raise for the fine job they are doing. Oh, I forgot, they approved that raise didn't they. Shame the rest of us can't do that.

They are politicians because they could not make it in the private sector. Those that can do, if not, they become politicians. But you folks elected them time and again. Ted Kennedy did everything possible about being bad, left a woman to die, yet he died in office. Years later. What actually does it take for a person to do before they get dumped. Cannot imagine what it would be. Now they are b... on TV about payroll taxes increasing. Blaming it on Bush, but this is not his baby. This is all Obama. You would have been paying this all along if Obama had not passed the break. It will hurt you when you draw SS. You can always start making coffee at home and stop your expensive Starbucks.

Also cut the high retirement back to what we, the poor people trying to live off our SS retirement live off of. Stop the body guards, stop paying for the presidents family vacations he has per month then he won't have to delay our social security checks as he has purposed to do. Let the congress persons live off what the public survives on.

85% of these fools around here voted for Obumma because he works to help the blacks & illegals get their free bees. Most have no clue about what he is doing to destroy this country all they care about is their welfare, foodstamps, etc.
alleebrin 4 months ago
You got that right, Bigbob! Pathetic, to say the least! Who was it who said something to the effect that this country's great downfall is the ignorance of its people?

Raising taxes on income does no good because of tax loopholes. Revenue can be increased by raising taxes on Wages ............or closing loopholes as Romney said. I never understood why the Republican Party was the party of the rich when the uber rich are all democratic supporters. Welfare is a weapon used very effectively by the Democratic Party to control large segments of our population. The democratic perty doesn't give a crap about the 'Plight of the Poor' they just want control.

Why is it that it's always the military, both active duty and retired, and the retired folks that take the first hit. We have served our time in the trenches, paid into our retirement fund and expected to have the promises made about "our golden years" honored. Why not withhold pay to the congressional leaders and their staff until the majority agree on any proposal and leave the old people alone?
Cartman 4 months ago
Because when you pressure a bureaucrat to cut spending, they always choose the thing most dear to you to cut first, so the spending cut will be less palatable to you. That's why city's always say we're going to have to take cops off the streets. That's why school system say we're going to have to furlough teachers. They completely ignore the waste that should be trimmed.

The politicans should have the same retirement and health care plans that the public has. Also there should be no laws that do not apply to politicans. Business owners and executives should be taxed at 50 percent of their income that is five times greater than the average that is paid to company emplyees.

The politico's use the biggest hammer they can find to get what they want. Unfortunately, the elderly and children are their first weapon of choice.

Noted as always the absence of our Georgia elected in leadership over the most critical issues: budget crisis, needed tax and IRS reform, gun ownership rights and control, unabated gang violence, immigration reform, jobs, Obaham's healthcare debockle and failing national educaton system, and many more. Not one word, not one stand in leadership from Saxby Chambliss, Johnny Isakson or Sanford Bishop. The only time we will see them is campaign contribution time. They serve best only when serving themselves.
