Squawk of the Day - Jan. 18, 2013

"In 1989 my wife saved her life and that of my infant son. The attacker fled when she pulled her high capacity semi-auto pistol. A month later the same man abducted an unarmed woman and cut her throat ear to ear after raping her."

She used a gun to fend off the attacker...

Be armed and ready to fight back!!

A great example of good use of a gun. The fear of one with a gun is all some respect.

Here Here for High Capacity Clips!!

1

waltspecht 1 year, 3 months ago

Please Sister, you are in a Retired Marine area. The thing that inserts in the gun is a magazine. Clips are stripper clips that charge a magazine if you have an adapter, or an En Block to charge a Garand. I remember the Drill instructor coming home late one night. His Wife asked why he was so late? He said the recruits were caught with dirty magazines and needed to understand this was unacceptable so he PT'ed them for three hours. His wife called him a hipocrate, as he had a subscription to Playboy. He smiled and explained the Marine definition of a dirty magazine.

The great von Steuben couldn't have explained it better!

bubbavet 1 year, 3 months ago

Only a Marine knows the difference between a rifle and a gun. One is for shooting, the other for fun. Semper Fi

No, the Army taught that to a few a few years ago. Now, who know what they teach.

SMH....She could have pulled a 357 magnum and got the same results........If anyone needs more than 1 or 2 bullets to stop a criminal.......THEY DONT NEED A GUN!!!!!!!!!

2

Jax 1 year, 3 months ago

Tell that to the lady in the Atlanta area that unloaded her .38 into an intruder in her home. She was hiding in a crawl space with her twin boys. The man came and found her. She shot six times, hit him five times, and he was still able to drive away from her house. Are you saying this woman should not have a gun? Should we all just be armed with a Deringer and pray that we aren't attacked by more than one person? Don't shake your head so hard that you can't think critically.

2

TrixibelleBento 1 year, 3 months ago

No, she should've hurled a box of cake mix at him.

0

Cartman 1 year, 3 months ago

What if there's three of them?

Bullets - I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

2

Sherwood_Eagle_Alum 1 year, 3 months ago

What if there is 12 of them? 24? 100?

0

Sister_Ruby 1 year, 3 months ago

Answer: One more than the bad guy has.

1

USTPC 1 year, 3 months ago

All the more reason to have as many high capacity magazines as you can get Sherwood.

1

Cartman 1 year, 3 months ago

Then I would definitely want more than a 7 shot weapon.

0

bubbavet 1 year, 3 months ago

What is wrong with killing them twice?

0

waltspecht 1 year, 3 months ago

Even good shots get very nervous when confronted by an actual situation. There are misses, just like from Buck Fever. If you think you are a deadly shot, let me inquire as to your actual combat experience. It is a totally different situation when the gunfire is traveling in both directions. It is not uncommon to miss when confronted. There was a famous shootout in a New York City Subway Bathroom, about 20 x 12. Two Undercovers and a Perp all dumped their weapons. Undercovers had Revolvers, Perp had a 25 Auto. With all that concrete backed up tile the bullets were richocheting everywhere. No one was hit. It isn't TV, it's real life. A high Cap Magazine has it's place, because a gunfight is heck when you are out of bullets. For someone to believe everyone will be calm, cool and collected in an actual fire fight is just a joke.

0

rock 1 year, 3 months ago

Cool calm and collected in a gunfight only happens on TV. When you first realize that a bullet has just missed your head it is not uncommon to release a body function. But a trained person will carry on in spite of his fear.

rightasrain 1 year, 3 months ago

New York's Mayor Bloomberg has issued his own "executive order" banning all weapons that do not chamber seven bullets. No weapon chambers just seven bullets. Weapons manufacturers do not make magazines to chamber seven bullets. These guys want to remove the second amendment altogether and kow-tow to the U.N.'s requirement that all member nations prohibit privately owned weapons. The U.S. signed that agreement.

0

FryarTuk 1 year, 3 months ago

Do you think it was only the bullets after the first six that frightened the attacker away?

2

ginny 1 year, 3 months ago

Just sight of the gun and he fled.

1

chinaberry25 1 year, 3 months ago

Clips or magazines, guns save more lives than they take, but the government does not want you to know that. For everyone who dies by the hand of a gun, it means they do not have to pay any money on Social security benefits or welfare. Money is all they care about, not the lives of people. If they cared about lives then we would not have these wars and cigarettes. Both kill more people than guns every year.

1

FlunkyMonkey 1 year, 3 months ago

What about the lady in North Georgia? She shot the person who broke into her house FIVE times in the face and he still managed to flee...

0

agirl_25 1 year, 3 months ago

Yeah I still want to know "the rest of the story".....on that one....heard anything else about it? The last I heard the husband was on the phone with her the whole time telling her to "shoot him again"......we talking about the same one? The guy was in the hospital in critical condition.

0

RedEric 1 year, 3 months ago

That man in the north Georgia hospital is taking personal responsibility for his actions. Victims are usually much less lenient than judges.

0

agirl_25 1 year, 3 months ago

What do you mean taking personal responsibility for his actions? What other choice does he have....I read he got shot in the face and neck 5 times...how bad were the shots.....the articles I read never said how bad the shots were.

0

waltspecht 1 year, 3 months ago

Apparently she hit five out of six times in the abdoman. First reports of the head shot were in error.

ittybittyme 1 year, 3 months ago

Not going to any of my guns of any type....give Odumbo and the Democrats an inch, that take a mile...just look at the last four years...

The discussion of restricting military assault weaponry has been colored with a great deal of irrational fear and politics. We are not discussing the 2nd amendment. The legislative discussion focuses on: 1. background checks for all gun purchasers to include gun shows (88% of the American people support this); 2. a database tracking gun sales (71% of the American people support this); 3. background checks on anyone buying gun ammunition? (76% of the American public support this); 4. ban on the sale of military style assault weapons (58% of the American people support this;) 5.ban on high-capacity ammunition clips, meaning those containing more than 10 bullets (65% of the American public support). (Rf. to the ABC-WaPo survey of three days ago.) The American people clearly support legislation to address the availability of military assault weapons. In our republic the majority rules when legislation is constitutional and there is no doubt about that given D. C. vs Keller and Antonin Scalia's ruling opinion. Wish I could be here longer but headed out to the country to shoot skeet with some visiting relatives. Have a nice day.

How about a slanted Poll, or do you not believe poles that are commissioned to find results leaning one way tend to come out that way. How many actual people do you know who participate in poles? What is their political leaning. I once read a pole that Liberals participate in poles at almost a 2 to 1 ration than Conservatives. I place very little credance in Meia Poles.

USTPC 1 year, 3 months ago

Here are some poll numbers for you:

"Despite constant hammering by the national news media, the National Rifle Association has a favorability rating of 54 percent in the latest Gallup survey, slightly higher than President Obama's rating of 53 percent."

"As NewsBusters previously reported, recent surveys conducted on behalf of CNN and Time magazine have shown that the public's support for stricter gun legislation is dropping."

Also the libtard media even said Obummas best buddy Harry Reid wouldn't vote for any strickter gun laws. He also no new gun laws have any chance of passing even the libtard run senate.

First let me say I am not a paranoid, scared person. I am simply careful. I live in a rural area where there has never been any problems with burglary. home invasions or any other violent crimes. I do realize that secluded areas are the targets for such things. I ALWAYS have a loaded handgun handy just in case, I even have a snub nose 38 in my pocket when cutting grass. I also carry a semi auto 45 caliber pistol canceled when I leave my residence, yes I have a carry permit. I have a 12 gauge riot shotgun loaded with 7 rounds of OO buckshot next to my bed. Again I am not paranoid or scared, just prepared because you never know what can happen. Lord willing I will never have to use any of them but I will not hesitate if the need arises. I simply will not be killed by some idiot without putting up a fight. It is simply a way of life for me and I do not plan to give up my guns.

Anytime we decide on a course of action based on a POLL and not a clear constitutional determination, we decend furhter into mob rule. We have courts to protect the minitorty view, not laws to erase it else women and blacks would not be voting, certain religions would be illegal, monopolies would control commerce. Poll numbers are seldom in the thousands...just acouple hundred; they call a "representative' number of folks usually targeted by the folks doing the poll to get the answer they want. That's why right wing and left wing can do the exact same poll and claim diferent results. The folks in Butte Montana answer gun questions differently than those in BelAir Cal.

Nothing wrong with owning firearms, after all it is your money to do with as you see fit. Just be careful when firing a high power long gun or pistol as you may send a bullet into your neighbor's home and may kill that person.

1

FryarTuk 1 year, 3 months ago

Tonto: 1. "Anytime we decide on a course of action based on a POLL and not a clear constitutional determination, we decend furhter (sic) into mob rule. " No one has suggested that but SCOTUS most always includes the acceptability of public opinion in their decisions. Not only that they make reference to them in their rulings frequently. 2. "We have courts to protect the minitorty view . . ." Absolutely nothing is being proposed that SCOTUS would reject as constitutional. You might want to read Antonin Scalia's opinion for the ruling majority on D. C. v Heller. 3. "Poll numbers are seldom in the thousands...just acouple hundred; they call a "representative' number of folks usually targeted by the folks doing the poll to get the answer they want." That's just completely false as it relates to scientific polling. Which is not to say that interpolations/extrapolations/interpretations of data cannot be mistaken or even corrupted like Dick Morrison did for Fox news. But the models, samplings and data mining of Nate Silver in the 2012 presidential election, for example, was almost perfect. Witness the melt down of Turd Blossum on Fox when they called Ohio for Obama. ABC-WaPo's polling strategies are exceptional and in recent years have proven it as well. You do accept that the earth is round don't you?
