ALBANY -- Wilma "Billie" Stone Berkshire of Albany died Thursday, January 17, 2013. Her funeral service will Saturday 4 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. The family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Mr. Ross Powell and Rev. Tom Pollock will officiate. Eastern Star Rites to follow after service.
A native of St. Albans, WV, Mrs. Berkshire had lived in Albany since 1976. She was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph Stone and Arthur Berkshire and son James Stone. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the Vota Vita Sunday School Class.
An active member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Panthersville Chapter No. 408 & Crape Myrtle Chapter No 163 and was a Past Matron. She was a Special Grand Aide to Helen R. Cox, MWGM 1985-1988, a member of Past Matrons & Past Patrons Club 10, Ideal Lamplighters Club, Amaranth No 18, Honorary member of the Following: Grand Representative Club of OES GA, Albany Ladies of Nasah and the Albany Women's Club. She was a hostess at the Governor's Mansion during Jimmy Carter's Administration.
Survivors include a sister, Peggy Baker (Jack), Michigan; step children, Becky Hughes, Florida, Linda Sturk (Richard), Knoxville, TN, Arthur P. Swedelson (Margaret), Coarsegold, CA, Judy Thompson (Bryant), Colleyville, TX; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and special friends George and Florence Neese.
