Warrants issued in connection to Albany shooting

ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany Police Department Gang Unit has issued a lookout for a man suspected of being involved in a shooting that took place in a south Albany home at 922 Cherry Ave. Monday morning.

Antwan Ronell Lamons, 24, has had warrants issued on him for six counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, on Tuesday.

Lamons, who also goes by “Scooter” or “Lil G,” is 5 foot, 7 inches, and weighs 125 pounds, according to an available description. He has been known to frequent a relative’s residence at 406 Heard Ave., Apt. A.

Initial reports on the Cherry Avenue shooting, which took place at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, stated that two unknown suspects fired two shots inside the home and fled the scene on foot. Nobody was injured and no suspects were immediately taken into custody, Banks said.

The suspect description released by officers showed that one of the men involved was a black male wearing a brown hoodie with “ATC” in white letters, while the other was a black male wearing a black and white hoodie and a black and white hat who was about 5-feet-7-inches tall.

These thugs going around shooting people happens every single day of the week, Shooting at movie theaters happens what, maybe one every 4 months or so? Certainly not every day. You have more shootings in Albany alone in one day than theater shootings in the country for the whole year, so that same old theater shooting argument doesn't really fly in comparison.

You can add movie theater shootings and school shootings combined for the entire country and still not outnumber the shootings that go on around Albany.
