53 sent to hospital following bus collision

COVINGTON, Ga — After 53 were sent to hospitals for treatment of varying levels of injury following a two-bus collision in Newton County, a bus driver may be cited.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 53 students were injured in the collision just outside of Rocky Plains Elementary School Tuesday.

The paper reports that Georgia State Patrol officials say that it appears that the first bus had slowed to drop off a child when the second bus rammed into it from behind.

Most of the injuries reported were minor and all weren't believed to be life threatening.

The bus driver, who also was injured in the crash, is facing a citation for following too closely.

Glad to hear the children weren't maimed or killed. Please people pay attention while driving.

Certainly we have sincere thoughts for those injured and don't want to make light of it. However, where is the outrage and call for "bus" control; if we outlaw buses there will be no bus tradedies. Buses, like guns, are simply objects that do not act on their on. If an incompetent/insane/criminal person operates a bus bad things will happen, same with guns.
