ALBANY -- Mary Snipes Bridger, 91, of Albany died, January 24, 2013 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church with the interment to follow immediately at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Jay Weldon will officiate. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Bridger was born in Menola, North Carolina, on September 1, 1921. She was the daughter of Harvey G. and Latte Parker Snipes. She graduated from Woodland-Olney High School, and attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. While in college she meet Clarence Bridger and in 1942 they married while he was in Medical School. In 1958 the Bridger's moved to Albany. Mary was known in the community as a devoted mother to their six children. In Albany she lived a full life surrounded by her large and energetic family and their many friends. Mary was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church for 45 years. She looked forward to church and seeing her friends there every Sunday.
In 1974 Mary began her real estate career at Albany Realty Company. She loved her work and all of her colleagues so much that she continued working until the age of 86.
She is survived by her six children: Elizabeth Ann (Becky) Geer of Atlanta, Mary Angel Whiteman and husband Larry of Atlanta, Joy Belinda Wise and husband Guerry of Atlanta, Miller Clarence Bridger, III and wife Betsy of Atlanta, Harry John Bridger and wife Tracey of Atlanta, Kenneth Lock Bridger of Albany, and thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Grant Snipes and Latte Parker Snipes, her husband, Clarence Edgerton Bridger, a brother, Louie Wilson Snipes, his wife, Wilma Snipes, a brother, Harvey Grant Snipes and a sister, Evelyn Snipes Hughes.
The Bridger Family is at the home of the late Clarence and Mary Bridger at 2708 North Doublegate Drive, Albany, GA 31721.
