OFFENSE

Jacori Taylor, QB, Sr., Early County

WHY HE’S HERE: Runner-up for All-Area Player of the Year, he led Early County to the Elite 8 in the Class AA state playoffs. He completed 133 of 245 passes for 1,933 yards and 19 TDs, rushed for 899 yards on 179 carries and ran for seven TDs. He was also named the Offensive Player of the Year for Region 1-AA.

Jerkerious Scott, QB, Sr. Terrell County

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 1,170 yards, averaging 11.14 yards per carry, scored 16 TDs and ran in 16 two-point conversions. He also completed 47 of 86 passes for 602 yards and nine TDs and made 72 tackles on defense. He was named the Offensive POY for Region 1-A.

Jakhari Martin, QB, Sr., Seminole County

WHY HE’S HERE: Played both ways and was a leader on defense and offense, where he rushed for 967 yards on 150 carries and scored 15 touchdowns, and completed 21 of 47 passes for 491 yards and five TDs.

J.T. Edore, RB, Jr., Westwood

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 1,575 yards on just 164 carries, averaging 9.6 yards per carry, and scored 23 touchdowns to help lead Westwood to the GISA Class AA state title game. He also made 67 tackles as a linebacker.

Terry Lewis, RB,Sr., Bainbridge

WHY HE’S HERE: Ran for 1,129 yards on 180 carries (6.27 yards per carry) and scored 13 touchdowns.

Cornelius Bennett, RB, Jr., Randolph-Clay

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 1,022 yards on 175 carries (5.8 yards per carry) and scored nine touchdowns while sharing time in the backfield.

Marvin Grant, RB, Sr., Miller County

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 925 yards and eight touchdowns and finished his career at Miller with more than 2,600 rushing yards.

Wesley Fields, RB, So., Americus-Sumter

WHY HE’S HERE: Missed the final two games of the season but still gained more than 1,200 yards for the Panthers.

Shaquille Powell, OL, Sr. Early County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was the leader on the line for Early County’s explosive offense and a big reason the Bobcats reached the Elite 8 in the Class AA state playoffs.

Marquavion Mincey, OL, Sr. Worth County

WHY HE’S HERE: Graded out at 85 percent for the season and had 25 pancake blocks.

Lavonte Robinson, WR, Sr., Worth County

WHY HE’S HERE: Started both ways and was a lethal defensive back, as well as one of the best receivers in SW Georgia. He made 44 receptions for 675 yards and scored seven TDs for a team that primarily ran the ball.

DEFENSE

Darryl McGhee, DL, Sr., Bainbridge

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 42 tackles and had 18 quarterback pressures and four sacks.

K.D. Williams, DL, Sr., Early County

WHY HE’S HERE: Started on both sides of the line and made 72 tackles as a defensive end with 2 1/2 sacks.

Alex Koonce, LB, Sr., Seminole County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was named the Player of the Year in Region 1-A and helped lead Seminole to the Elite 8 round of the state playoffs. He played both ways and was one of the top offensive linemen in the region and the top linebacker. He made 88 tackles, including 16 for loss.

Brakari Isom, LB, Sr., Early County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was the Region 1-AA Defensive Player of the Year and made an incredible 178 tackles, including 46 solos.

B.J. Cheatem, LB, Sr., Bainbridge

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 90 tackles and had three interceptions. He also broke up four passes.

Jamie Davis, LB, Jr., Westwood

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 97 tackles, including seven for losses and three sacks, and had three fumble recoveries.

Sherrod Ruff, LB, Sr., Crisp County

WHY HE’S HERE: Missed four games with an injury but still made 66 tackles, including 12 for losses.

Tremel Emanuel, LB, Jr., Mitchell County

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 84 tackles, including 57 solos and eight tackles for losses. He also had five sacks and three forced fumbles, and rushed for 313 yards on 43 carries (7.3 average) and one TD.

Marlin Hall, DB, Sr., Worth County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was the leader of the Rams with 77 tackles, including 63 solos and one tackle for a loss to go along with an interception, four breakups and a forced fumble. He also had a game-saving tackle inside the 5-yard-line tackle to beat Albany.

Jacoby Jones, DB, Sr., Miller County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was named the Region 1-A Defensive Player of the Year and finished the season with 40 tackles and three interceptions.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Daniel Provence, K, Jr., Bainbridge

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 37 of 39 PATS and made 4 of 6 field goals, including a game-winner against Cairo — a season-best 38-yarder.

UTILITY

Jaquan Williams, RB/DB/KR, Sr., Mitchell

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 737 yards on 86 carries and 11 TDs, passed for 169 yards and a touchdown and had five receptions for 67 yards. He also ran in eight 2-point conversions and had 321 yards in kickoff returns, racking up 1,294 all-purpose yards. He made 37 tackles on defense, including 24 solos and four for losses and had a sack and a fumble recovery.

ALL-Metro

OFFENSE

Kh’ron McClain, RB, Sr., Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Runner-up for All-Metro Player of the Year, he rushed for 2,327 yards, averaging 11.1 yards per carry and breaking Tony Zenon’s school record. He ran for 27 TDs, scored 210 points and finished with 2,754 all-purpose yards while leading DWS to the GISA Class AAA state title. He was named the GISA Player of the Year and easily made the Class AAA All-State team.

Stephen Collier, QB, Jr., Lee County

WHY HE’S HERE: Threw for 1,887 yards and rushed for 485 more, accounting for 34 TDs (23 passing and 11 rushing), plus six two-point conversions.

Emanuel Byrd, QB, Sr., Albany High

WHY HE’S HERE: Completed 81 of 103 passes (78 percent) for 1,420 yards and 16 touchdowns, and he also ran for 625 yards and scored six rushing touchdowns.

Dalviness Greene, RB, Sr. Westover

WHY HE’S HERE: Rushed for 1,614 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 7.54 yards per carry. He also made 13 receptions for 114 yards.

Hakeem Porter, OL, Sr., Monroe

WHY HE’S HERE: Was the top lineman for one of the best teams in SW Georgia and is a three-time Herald All-Area player. He graded out at 89 percent for the season and made 32 pancake blocks.

Jamie Roberts, OL, Sr., Westover

WHY HE’S HERE: Was a leader for Westover’s offensive front and graded out at 90 percent with 15 pancakes.

Shombie Williams, OL, Sr., Westover

WHY HE’S HERE: Graded out at 95 percent for the season and was one of the top offensive linemen in the region and in SW Georgia.

Chance Green, OL, senior, Lee County

WHY HE’S HERE: Graded out as Lee’s top offensive lineman in seven of 10 games and had 32 pancake blocks this season.

Shabari Jones, OL, Jr., Lee County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was a dominant player and led the team with 40 pancake blocks.

Kevin Williams, WR, Sr., Monroe

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 53 receptions for 1,018 yards and nine touchdowns, and he also ran two punts and one kickoff back for touchdowns.

Rantiez Williams, TE, Sr., Albany High

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 45 receptions for 1,200 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

DEFENSE

Cortez Banks, DL, Sr., Monroe

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 75 tackles, including 10 for losses and 10 sacks. He also had a fumble recovery.

Trenton Thompson, DL, So., Westover

WHY HE’S HERE: Was dominant as a sophomore and made 65 tackles, including 12 for losses and five sacks. He also had an interception and forced a fumble.

Joshua Burton, DL, Sr., Wesover

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 52 tackles, including seven for losses and four sacks, and also had a fumble recovery.

Patrick Forrestal, DL, Sr., Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Was a leader on both sides of the ball and was named to the GISA Class AAA All-State team. He was one of the top offensive linemen in GISA and made 79 tackles, including 43 solos along with two sacks on defense. He has verbally committed to the U.S. Naval Academy.

Matthew Fox, DL, Jr., Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Set school records for sacks in a game, sacks for a season (11) and career sacks (20) and was named to the GISA Class AAA All-State team after making 91 tackles, including 61 solo and leading the state in sacks.

Anthony Smith, LB, Sr., Monroe

WHY HE’S HERE: Was the Region 1-AAAA Defensive Player of the Year. He led Monroe with 110 tackles, including nine for losses and two sacks. He also had three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

Juwon Young, LB, Jr., Albany High

WHY HE’S HERE: Is one of the most recruited juniors in Georgia and the leader of Albany’s defense. Young made 115 tackles, including 15 for losses and three sacks, and had three fumble recoveries.

Don Mills, LB, Sr., Westover

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 114 Tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, and forced two fumbles.

Dextric Green, LB, So., Lee County

WHY HE’S HERE: Was one of the team’s best tacklers as a sophomore with 94, including eight for losses.

Nick Michas, LB, Sr., Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Led all of GISA in tackles with 102, including 75 solo and a sack, and he was also a big reason DWS won the state title. He was named to the GISA Class AAA All-State team.

Jawaski Randle, DB, Sr., Monroe

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 66 tackles, including four for losses, and had four interceptions, including one for a touchdown. He also ran a punt back for a TD.

Quan Jamison, DB, Jr. Lee County

WHY HE’S HERE: Led the team with 105 tackles, including 15 for losses, and three sacks.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Harry Vildibill, K/P. Sr.,, Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Made 59 of 64 PATs and three field goals, including a 40-yarder.

UTILITY

Sam Shellhaas, LB/RB, Sr., Deerfield

WHY HE’S HERE: Did it all for the Knights. He was a force on defense, where he made 66 tackles, including 37 solos and two sacks. He also rushed for 218 yards and a touchdown, averaging 6.6 yards per carry, and he made three receptions, averaging 6.33 yards per carry.
