ALBANY, Ga. — Trial jury selection got under way Monday for a shooting nearly three years ago at the now defunct Brick House Productions that left a 20-year-old man dead.
Eight defendants were set to start their trials this week in connection to the death of LaShelton Kernard Stanford of Flovilla on Feb. 14, 2010. Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said that, because of the number of people involved with the case, it would likely be Wednesday before a jury is seated and opening arguments can begin.
Cavoris Barney, Jacory Butts, Sean Frazier, Anthony Hawkins, Anthony Seay, Shacoby Seay, Shuntavious Seay and Shenard Smith are the eight currently standing trial. The charges they face include murder, felony murder, street gang participation and interference with government property.
Dougherty Superior Court Judge Denise Marshall is presiding over the case.
