Fab 5 Poll
BOYS
1.) Monroe 19-2
The Nadas are a perfect 12-0 and with three games left they could be the first team to ever go wire-to-wire as the No. 1 team in the Fab 5. Next: at Terrell County, 7:30 p.m., Friday.
2.)Westover 15-5
The Patriots, who got a scare before beating Albany in OT on Friday, have only lost to two teams — Monroe (three times) and nationally-ranked Tift County (twice). Next: at Crisp, 7:30 p.m., today.
3.) Mitchell County 18-3
The Eagles are playing strong down the stretch and if they beat Seminole on Friday they will be the top-seed in the upcoming Region 1-A tourney. Next: vs. Seminole, 7:30 p.m., Friday.
4.) Seminole County 15-3
The Indians are No. 4 in the Class A state power rankings and have lost only one game to a Class A team all season — a 55-54 loss in OT to Mitchell. Next: vs. Early County, 7:30 p.m., today.
5.) Bainbridge 14-4
The Bearcats are 3-1 in the region and face one of the biggest Region 1-AAAAA games of the season tonight when they play host to Lee County. Next: vs. Lee County, 7:30 p.m., today.
GIRLS
1.) Randolph-Clay 19-2
The Lady Red Devils have won 18 of their last 19 — including 10 in a row — and are set to host the region tourney as the No. 1 team in the Class A state power ratings. Next: vs. Stewart, 6 p.m., today.
2.) Dougherty 15-5
No one is hotter than the Lady Trojans, who have won seven in a row and avenged two earlier region losses to Crisp and Monroe last week, knocking off the No. 2 Lady Tornadoes, 51-50, to leap-frog from No 4 to No. 2 in the Fab 5 Poll. Next: vs. Worth County, 6 p.m., Friday.
3.) Monroe 16-6
The Lady Tornadoes slip from No. 2 to No. 3 after a tough loss to Dougherty, but they will still be at home in the Region 1-AAAA tournament. Next: at Terrell County, 6 p.m., Friday.
4.) Pelham 17-3
The Lady Hornets have lost just once in Class AA, and they get a chance for revenge when they meet Thomasville, which beat Pelham 40-39 on Jan. 11, on Friday. Next: at Berrien, 6 p.m., today.
5.) Mitchell County 13-8
The Lady Eagles have a big game on Friday against Seminole County, which just knocked previous No. 5 Calhoun County out of the poll. Next: vs. Seminole County, 6 p.m., Friday.
Quote of the week
“I saw the ref raise his arm and call it a charge, and I said, ‘Yes! Yes!’ It was like a bomb went off in my head. It just exploded. I just started grabbing (teammates), and we were celebrating like it was a party.’’
Ra’Keta Shelton,
Dougherty senior on when she saw the referee wipe out Monroe’s Key Key Price’s basket at the buzzer because of a charging call that ensured a 51-50 victory.

13: The state power ranking for the Seminole Lady Indians, who may go up in the rankings this week after beating No. 9 Calhoun County. They face No. 8 Mitchell County on Friday. Only 16 teams will earn berths in the Class A state playoffs.
