James "Jim" Forsyth

ALBANY -- James "Jim" Forsyth, 72, of Albany, died Saturday, January, 2013 at his residence following an illness.

His funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Dr. Don Adams and the Rev. Carrie Meyers will officiate.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Kimbrell-Stern

Jim was a native of Cario, Georgia but was a resident of Albany since 1965. He was a son of the late Edward and Geraldine Floyd Forsyth. He retired as a Technical Services Librarian with the Dougherty. County Public Library System. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the choir, a member of the Littleton Sunday school class, and a teacher of the 5th Grade Children Sunday school class, he served as a mentor for confirmation, and worked with the Spirit Seekers. Jim's loves were that of his wife, working with genealogy, and with 49 years of dedication and service with the Boy Scouts of American and the Chehaw Council all as a volunteer worker. He served as a scoutmaster for 46 years, 12 of these with a physically handicapped troop sponsored by Easter Seal He was presently involved with Avalon Boy Scout Troop # 11. He was awarded the award given to an adult, the Silver Beaver Award in 1982 and the God and Country Award. Jim received multiple service and leadership awards through his tenure with scouting. Jim also served as a story reader at Alice Coachman Elementary School for several years.

Jim is survived by his wife Rosalyn M. Forsyth of Albany, his brother, Fred Forsyth of Jacksonville, FL, his aunt Mary Hubert of Atlanta, several cousins, nephews and niece and a host of close friends.
